NGKUR: Cookie Cake? (AW Pic and update in OP)

DH's birthday is tomorrow and we are having friends over this weekend to celebrate.  I'm going to make him a giant cookie cake but I've never done it before.

Does anyone have any tips?  By looking at Pinterest it looks like a normal cookie recipe that you put in a pizza pan...

The cookie cake was largely a success.  I left extra room around the edges, but I still had some "smooshing" around the edges, but it didn't spill all the way over.  I added almost an entire bag of M&M mini's in addition to the bag of chocolate chips so there is a lot of chocolate there.  My decorating skills are kinda week, but not bad for the first time.

Yes. Cookie recipe, pizza pan. I use the recipe that's on the Nestle chocolate chip bag, best chocolate chip cookie recipe EVAH. Then I just lay it out on a pizza pan kind of working it into a big circle. Leave it an inch or so away from the edges, bake for a few minutes longer than you would your regular cookies.

This is seriously my favorite thing to make for work birthdays and for DS's birthday at daycare. Delicious and you don't have to scoop out a million cookies.

Thanks for the tip about leaving room.  I wouldn't have thought about the cookies expanding since my pizza pan has edges.

Do you have a cast iron skillet? Skillet cookies are where it is at! This recipe is awesome. It calls for a 10-inch skillet but mine is 12 inches and works just fine.

I don't.    I have a glass top stove and I hear you shouldn't use cast iron on those.

Iiiiii don't know about that. I have a glass top and use a cast iron skillet almost every morning to cook eggs. What's the issue supposed to be?

No clue...  I just read/heard it somewhere and it stuck with me.  I was going to put one on my wedding registry when I saw it.

I have used mine 2-3 times a week on my glass top for over a year with no issues! /anecdote

Cast iron is heavy so you risk cracking the cook top but I feel this is easily avoided if you're gentle about it. You can also scratch up the cook top. My cast iron skillet came with a note to not drag the skillet over a glass top if you need to reposition it but rather pick it up to move it. But again, I use mine a lot with no issues.

I used a blondie recipe the last time I made a cookie pizza thing. I liked it better than the regular cookie recipe.

We usually cut it into bars (and the edges are curved) so we get smaller servings, but a lot of people cut it like a pizza.
