We took ownership of the property we're leasing 2 days ago and I cannot believe the shape it's in. We have a repair list a mile long and it's absolutely filthy! Everything is covered in dust and grime and I'm so grossed out. Help me get a clean house! Give me all your cleaning tricks!
And to share one of my own- mr clean magic erasers are the best at scuffs on walls and doors. They're also great on crayon!
I second @ismellbooks about paying someone. It is a one time cost for a great deep cleaning. I would miss too much stuff if I did it myself. Plus right now I would gag at anything too grimy.
If you're leasing I would think that somewhere in your lease it said something about the condition of the property? I feel like who ever you are leasing from should take responsibility for the cleaning, I mean that's how it usually works?
But as far as cleaning tricks sosayweall is right! Blue dawn and vinegar is an awesome cleaner for really grimy surfaces! Just make sure you only use it where you can easily rinse or only add a little soap. I usually mix 1 part blue dawn to 2 parts vinegar and then heat it up for 30 seconds or so before spraying it onto the surface. It will eat away all the gross without you having to scrub much!

We let the management company know that it's filthy but they don't seem to care. The state we're in us very pro landlord so I don't know how much help we're gonna get. The management company said they'd ask the landlords to pay for a professional clean since it wasn't done but if they say no we have no recourse. I have elbow grease to spare but I can only clean while DS naps and that's not much.

Hallelujah. The cleaners are coming tomorrow at 11. My faith is somewhat restored in our landlords and management company. They also said a handyman should be calling us sometime in the next week. This is a load off.
