Good idea. No real sleep advice, my kids suck at it. We try to use the eat play sleep. E is in a pretty consistent nap schedule now. She still naps 3 times. They are just short.
What is everyone feeding their 6-9 month olds. I just finally remembered she can have yogurt.

No baby, but I'll stalk.
What I did with Tyler at that age was the E-A-S-Y method.
Eat Activity Sleep Your Time (mom time)
It actually worked for him. So I started feeding him when he was fully awake versus just waking up (so like a 5 minute difference) and it really helped him, and he would usually nap for like 1-1.5 hours so the entire EASY thing would take like 2-2.5 hours. So eat, tummy time, put down for nap, repeat. I did this until I went back to work.

I would love to share ideas of what to feed babies - I've had to send food to daycare for 2 days this week and I'm already feeling like I'm out of ideas, lol.
My dd is 9.5 months and she eats: watermelon, cucumber, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, pork, mini meatball I freeze (I have turkey ones right now), grilled cheese cut super small, black beans, plums, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoe, avocado, applesauce, scrambled eggs, peas, blueberries (puréed in yogurt and stuff, idk when they eat them whole), carrots, green beans (usually puréed though), pancakes, mini muffins (I make ones with spinach), waffles, oatmeal (real not baby kind), brocolli, cauliflower ... We usually let her try one new food we are having at dinner a night as long as it's soft enough.
heatherbee - I'm jealous. Andrew is 9 months and shows no real desire to feed himself. I was so happy because the other day he actually picked up a pretzel and started gumming on it. He still gets mostly purees. I make them so I've been introducing rice, small pasta stars, mashed potatoes, cut up fruit, etc to get him used to the textures. I can't wait until I can just start giving him real food!

That has to be frustrating! We have been really lucky she likes food so much - she's super tiny so I feel like I offer her everything just to bulk her up, lol. Definitely a second child because I was convinced DS had to wait 3 days between all new foods and was a crazy person about it forever
Tips on getting Luke out of his current cycle of snack, power nap, repeat every 40 minutes??
I want to say with Della and Jack it was 4 months when they moved to 3 naps a day, 2 long and one short around dinner.
That's what I was trying to remember. Some says he seems like he's going towards that cycle on his own, but some days it's like nonstop catnapping and eating. So many growth spurts I guess.

Amazing! Thanks! She has had a lot of these. I know she will love cheese but she is already constipated. I on a whim gave her a nutragrain bar today. I should do waffles. She still will pocket food in her cheeks if she is shoveling it in to fast so I have to watch her.

I'll have to try a nutrigrain bar. I forgot she's had crackers broken up really small and pears and squash are two favorites!
roo1582 P just recently started really being interested and eating foods at 8.5 months. Such a difference from D!
She hasn't been into purees that much, so I mostly feed her from my plate. She's had roasted beets, sweet potato, squash, broccoli, cauliflower, blueberries, peaches, banana, green beans, spinach, eggs, fish, meatball, beans, yogurt, and rice.

So far L has slept in (cheap) RnP (that we already owned) but we're trying again tonight in the (brand new and expensive) bassinest (that I may have been way too enthusiastic in purchasing). Fingers and toes crossed!
Both kids were in the crib by the time I went back to work, so around 6-7 weeks. Obviously Eliza wasn't there all night long since we bed shared a lot, but she always started out in the crib. Before that it was the PNP or RNP in the living room or our room.
How often do your older babies get up at night to eat?
P is 8.5 months and is usually up 2 times at night. I feed her a bottle each time because that puts her back to sleep easily. Part of me is worried I'm creating a bad habit since she is getting so much formula at night still (~10 ounces), while the other part of me values trying to get sleep. My memory of D at this age is that he dropped night feedings on his own as he started sleeping through the night.
mightybee - How many ounces is P getting during the day? Can you start to slowly decrease the amount of formula she gets at night?
Andrew dropped his one night feed just after 6 months. It was about the same time that we started moving from BFing to formula. He gets 4 6oz bottles during the day (and it looks like he's starting to drop his consumption now).
mightybee, Eliza got up to eat a lot later than Hanna ever did. I think Hanna dropped her MOTN feedings around 9 months but Eliza kept hers up until closer to a year. Towards the end it was more of a convenience for me to just give her a bottle to put her back to bed, so I ended up stopping them, because like you said I didn't want to create a bad habit. However, she's always been on the low side of milk intake and even with the MOTN bottles she wasn't getting the 24oz avg. most babies need or eat. Because of that I didn't hesitate to give her a bottle MOTN, she more than likely needed it. But towards the end it was more for me then for her needing it. It was easier to get her back to sleep with a bottle than other methods and that's when we worked on dropping it.

Ellison still nurses two times a night. I really don't care so I just do it. We night weaned G at 13 months. I know bf babies are difderent than formula though

Thanks ladies. P usually only takes 4 ounce bottles during the day (except before bed she does 6 oz), so I think her daytime total might be on the lower end. I guess she'll move to dropping the night bottles on her own, but I will start trying some larger bottles during the day.

One thing that helped Tyler was decreasing each night time bottle by half an ounce every two days and adding the additional ounces onto the first couple of bottles.

Cece will take 4oz bottles during the day. She also nurses twice. Based upon the number of ounces she gets from bottles and how much I get when I pump vs nurse I would guess she drinks 24-26 ounces a day. She still wakes up at least 3 times a night but only once to eat during the night. She is still in a RNP in our room. We've tried the crib to see if she would get a better sleep but that didn't help.

Just curious what others are doing.
DD is 9.5 months old and dropped night feedings around 4 months on her own. DS we night weaned around 6 months because he went from sleeping all night to wanting to eat every 2 hours so I knew it wasn't hunger as much as a habit to wake up then. I dropped one feeding at a time and it didn't take long before he stopped waking for them.

This sounds like a totally dumb question but how did you drop a feeding? When P wakes up MOTN, she's crying like she's mad at the world and giving her a bottle quiets her and puts her to sleep. Maybe that means she's truly hungry though.
I guess I'm just scared of dropping a feeding and having to rely on bouncing and shushing to put her back to sleep. Hahaha...I'm a zombie mama at night.
But I think I'll just hope she magically drops her night feedings over the next few months. :-)

When my son was waking up tons all of a sudden we did a modified cry it out to night wean. I know it's not for everyone, and I know it doesn't work for all babies but my husband was adamant about trying it for 3 days after a few weeks of the wake ups and it worked quickly. My DS woke up at predictable times, so what we did was for the first feeding, used the modified cry it out when he woke up. The first night was awful. Night 2 he woke up for that feedin but it took way less time for him to fall asleep. The third night he didn't even wake up for that feeding. So then we did the same thing for the next night feeding. My son was also like 95% for weight and eating tons of food during the day and barely nursing when he woke at night, so we discussed with the doctor and she felt pretty comfortable saying he was waking out of habit and not need for food. Hopefully we didn't scar him for life letting cry those couple of nights
My DD dropped the night feedings on her own, which I was shocked but it can happen!
Does anyone have a baby who has no desire to eat real food? Unless its fruit (mostly in pureed form), he has no interest in eating anything. Every meal is a fight to get him to eat something. I'm so tired of making baby food. I would buy it, but I'm really focusing on introducing textures (rice, pasta, etc) into his food to get him more used to it. And honestly, even pureed veggies, etc he fights eating. He used to be a good eater but all of sudden he doesn't want to. At first I attributed it to teething, but after his teeth popped through, he's still not interested. I didn't think babies could be such picky eaters at this age!!

roo1582, Ingrid was that way. She was sooooo reluctant to switch from puree to solid food. She was over 7 months old before she would accept anything other than formula or puree. She just got over it eventually when she was ready. She is still incredibly picky though.
mightybee, Eli was having a hard time dropping his MOTN bottles so we just gradually decreased the amount he was getting since I was worried about him getting too much formula. You could try a combo of increasing her day bottle amount in decreasing her night bottle amount. If she keeps waking up after doing that then it's probably habit not hunger and you may have to consider sleep training of some kind.
