DS is in daycare full time, which means he always has a slight cold. Nothing serious, just a little stuffy nose and congestion. I also suspect he is swallowing a lot of extra saliva at night, because for the past few weeks he has vomited immediately after finishing his first bottle of the day. It's always way more than he just drank and always very watery. It's a one time projectile event, not vomiting over and over. He is never fazed by it and it only happens once a day after that first bottle.
I guess I'm not really worried about the vomiting, but am wondering if there is anything I can do to make it stop. I've tried holding off on the bottle for a while, thinking his stomach will settle, but for starters that's just hard cause the poor guy is hungry. It also typically doesn't prevent the vomiting. It's almost like he just needs to get out the extra buildup in the morning.
Any suggestions? And do you think I'm wrong to not be concerned about it?
Is he drinking too fast maybe? Or a little too much now that he's starting solids? Also, I wonder if reflux in the morning could be a thing too now that solids are in the picture?
I was also thinking maybe paced feeding. Was he a reflux baby? My lo is also spitting up a little (not vomiting) after his morning nursing but I think it's because we took him off the reflux meds and it's just a little reflux. I know he also drinks really fast because he's so hungry and my boob is full. Not sure if it's the same for a bottle.
My LO has had that daycare crud too and had been vomiting in the mornings. It stopped after a week or so. We dropped her down an ounce, gave a slower nipple, and give her a little cereal if we have time. We just started giving that other ounce back this week and so far so good.

We have had this, but it's actually been more of a night thing - although it has happened in the mornings as well, on occasion. DS2 has always been a reflux baby (but the happy kind). We can't keep him from having a bottle b/c he is starving in the morning. We do try to pace him like others suggested, let him have a few ounces then burp him, then let him finish. I seriously sit there and pat his back and try to burp him for a solid 10 minutes. It doesn't always work, but it does generally help. I've been hoping it will just get better with time, and it has for the most part....but it can be super frustrating. He is also full time in daycare - so I understand the constant "cold" they seem to have.

Either way I hope it resolves soon!
+1 for the drinking too fast or too much at a time. We tried to up DD's nipple size a couple of times and she would just spit up after it because she drank it so fast. So we just went back to the original nipple size.
Whenever my guy is congested (and it's been a lot lately), he throws up his bottle (or food) after a coughing fit from choking on the drainage. He's been sick with a nasty cold going on two weeks now. He's thrown up (heaving, not spit up) almost every day. I find it helps - especially in the morning - if I suction his nose (I use a Nosefrida) to get all the crap out before the bottle. That won't help what's already in his system, but it might prevent some of the vomiting. We also slowed the bottle and took breaks, but that just pissed him off rather than helped. I'm not sure if that's what's happening with you or not. Hopefully it'll resolve soon!
Thanks, ladies! He isn't a reflux baby, but I do like the suggestion of slowing things down. I had already cut back the ounces he was getting in the morning, so I think I'll try the slow flow nipple and make him take breaks. Fingers crossed!
