TTC Check-In Sept. 7th (Holiday Edition)

This is the spot where I get to ask all of you where you are in your cycle, which in some circumstances would be very awkward... how I love TCF!

QOTW:  Are there any serious or silly things you've been doing to try and increase the odds of conceiving?

We are a few days into our TWW. I honestly haven't thought about it much. I've been so busy with other stuff going on. I really do hope that this one is "it". Although I'm not going to hold my breathe thinking it is. We had a heart to heart the other night and it's very clear that if Julie isn't pregnant by May, that it will be my turn to TTC. We just don't have the money for IVF and using the insurance benefit wouldn't even cover a small percentage of it as they require us to have 6 iui a minimum before they will cover IVF, but the iuis and IVF come out of the same pool. Silly.

Qotd- I talk to Julie's ovaries and wish them good luck on a daily basis this may or may not include a belly rub. She also HATES fruit, HATES it and has been plugging her nose and eating pineapple this time. She said she'll be pissed if it didn't work this cycle bc of all the pineapple she forced herself to eat.

We are on CD6 approximately. It's adjusted as I have been on meds to stop my normal cycle for 2 weeks now. FET is in 2 weeks.

Question for any current or past IVFers. If your RE monitored your estrogen levels when did he/she do lab draws?

I asked our RE to do this for us even though he routinely doesn't. My lining has always looked good, and I doubt it will make a difference, but I want to know for sure what my levels were if this cycle doesn't work out so we can plan accordingly our next step.

And FYI, this cycle they have tweaked our meds a little. He will have me do the progesterone IM shot every day as opposed to every other. And then cut back on suppositories. They decided not to adjust estrogen since my lining has always looked good.

QOTW- I quit sugar for awhile. I don't know if it will really help our chances at this point. If this transfer doesn't work I hope to stay sugar free and lose some weight before any future IUIs or IVF using my eggs. I do think that would increase the chances. I was sugar free for 9 days and then when I was sick I just couldn't keep it up. Overall I've been better the last few days but we are still not completely over this stinking cold.

Side note- I got this strange fear today about the possibility of neither of us being able to conceive through IUI. And how sad that would make me, it's just becoming more clear the IVF isn't an option right now. And now I'm just scared.

Triggered last night, tomorrow morning is the IUI, then into another TWW. Glad you've been busy/distracted for yours rikkiandjulie.

QOTW: This cycle I cut out coffee for a bit, it was difficult and I caved on a few ocassions.

mahler5,- for our fresh cycle, I had e2 checked on CD 3 (baseline) and again on CD 6,8,10,11, 14, 17 and 21. For our FET, I had it checked on CD 4(baseline) CD 15,20, and 26. Basically every time they had me in the clinic, they checked. GL with your transfer!!

I picked up the Femara and trigger meds today.
Pretty excited to get this cycle started.

QOTW: I will be eating pineapple again. But other than that, I haven't really done much for the other two cycles. Maybe I should..?

Thanks! I called them today as they didn't do a baseline last week. The RE nurse is out so I am waiting to hear back. So annoying.

DW tested again. It was negative. Why does she keep testing? idk, but all the disappointment sucks. Feeling more and more like we are out this month. Huge bummer, beta isn't til 9/17, and DW still wants to go. God help us, bc it's beginning to feel like we will never conceive.

Well, I'm freaking out because I got a negative OPK on day 12 and have 500$ worth of sperm in my laundry room that run out of liquid nitrogen on Wednesday. Normally I get my positive on day 10 or 11, and I'm beginning to think some things (increasing order of craziness):

1. I just missed it, despite taking an OPK each day since day 7. Therefore I really need to be back on the temping/charting/tracking wagon.
2. I didn't ovulate and probably we should just go straight to IUIs because my one ovary clearly doesn't want to play anymore.
3. Even though I got a period, clearly I'm not ovulating because I'm pregnant from the first round and should not have had that 2/3rds of a beer on labor day and I should probably POAS right now. Tell me that's just impossible, please?

So, I did a DIY mani/pedi and took a nap today and I'm going to go for a walk in the sunshine and hopefully get my positive OPK tomorrow. The good news is that Sweetie has access to a liquid nitrogen tank at work and can store the sperm until next month if we don't get a positive in the next two days.
