I know there have probably been several FB groups started over the course of the past year (can't believe it's already been that long!) but I know several people were wary about entering so soon (myself included).
I was just wondering if any of the FB groups would consider adding members at this point, or do you want to keep the groups as they are? I really like it here, but I don't get on it as much as FB. When I'm on FB, I see everything at once, so I never think about coming on here. My old March 2012 group is still very much active on FB.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone here. I enjoy reading about all of your babies. And I will still try to hang out here when k think about it. But for me, FB is more easy for me to quickly scroll through.
I will understand if the FB groups want to stay closed to new members. Just thought I would ask.
Yeah they were started back on TD. One in just the first few weeks, and at least one more later down the road. I don't want to go back to the crazies on TD and ask.
Down for facebook! Wouldn't be hard to find me on there though. My username here is a shortened version of my name and my profile picture is the same as the one I have here. Clearly internet safety is not high on my list of priorities.
Great! I will set something up. PM me your Facebook name. I then have to friend you to add you to the group. I can immediately unfriendly after to keep your stuff private. I will add people as I can get to it this morning - DDs first day of preschool this year, woo hoo!!! Momma needs a break!!
I would join a facebook group as well. The one from TD was started super early and they made it so after a certain date you weren't able to join any more. I know I was one of those that it was to soon to join.
Could someone remind me how the security settings on such a group work? Would members of the group be able to see my profile information that I normally have blocked from people I am not friends with?

*i think* that they would only be able to see your name and whatever you post in the TCF group, as long as your profile is private. To see everything on your wall/what you post on your own timeline, you would have to actually be Facebook friends. So it can be fairly anonymous if you don't have a super unique name;)

Those who are in the group, will be able to see your profile picture, but that is it. Unless you are friends with them they will not be able to see anything you do not want them to see.
I totally get that not everyone wants a FB group. And I'm 100% not trying to take away conversation from this group. I just know I personally use FB more and was just waiting until I was more comfortable here to join one.
Along the privacy lines...obviously don't really want people joining that don't ever participate here. I'm not going to set a limit, because I personally don't participate much here so that wouldn't be fair. Just use your own discretion. If you are solely a lurker only, you probably don't need to lurk on FB as well.
pghtruelove, you win the prize. First person I could actually find, so you become an admin so you can help me find anyone else! I've only gotten a few messages, with a lot more people saying they would want to join. So I can only add you if you give me or pghtruelove your name and we can actually find you!
And like I said, I am immediately unfriending, just for mutual privacy. Haven't looked at one profile. I'm sure if it is successful, many of us will eventually end up friending one another!

I'm excited I have something to do other than lay in bed between a sleeping baby and SO.
I guess I just don't really see the point of adding an additional platform to have the same conversations. The forum is not really any more difficult to access than Facebook. As for avoiding the crazies on TD, I'd say there are still some crazies here, so...
For me it's so that I could share pictures with you ladies without them being public and also so that I can talk about people I know in real life without worrying that they will find it by accident.
My wedding group had a private or hidden FB group that was by invite only so we could post pictures without them being open to everyone and I think people felt safer to say and post certain things. We still hung out the message board but in my experience the FB group made us all closer. We actually did gift exchanges at Christmas and such.
Not gonna lie I'm kinda jealous of you guys my name is super common. First and last.
My married name is very common but my maiden name is not. And on FB I listed both so people from high school could find me easier.
This is exactly my life lol. I'm 99% sure I'm the only person with my married name. On FB and Google anyway.
I wouldn't be completely opposed to a FB group..I'm still very good friends with some TK ladies I met while getting married. I'm not going to be around much this weekend, I'll maybe just wait and see how this plays out for a bit.

I do like the idea of being able to share pictures more privately. I'm not great at going back and deleting things posted here.
