iPhone iOS9 Software Update & Reproductive Health

iPhone Users come in!

I did the new software update last night, and one of the changes is that they added "Reproductive Health" to the Health app.  Options include:  BBT, CM, Menstruation, Ovulation Test Result, Sexual Activity, and Spotting.  You can enter your data just like you would on FF.

I haven't played around with it enough to know if it would work the same way FF does, but I wonder if FF will allow you to sync data between their app and the Health app?

Huh. That is pretty cool. I don't really use the health app on my phone to begin with, but for those who do I can see how it would be nice to have all your data in one spot.

I think this is just another way that Apple wants to learn about me and control my life. I'll probably just keep using FF.

This sounds potentially cool since I tend to like how apple develops apps (except for maps) but I can see it being just one more thing they know about me like requiressnacks said. Though at this point I'm not sure it's worth fighting against that happening.

That being said, I haven't done the update yet. I tend to wait a couple of versions so they get the kinks worked out. I'll be curious to hear the thoughts of ppl who use it though.

I hadn't ever used the health app before either, but when I was playing around with it last night I noticed that it has been tracking my steps and workouts. I sold my Fitbit because I didn't like it, but this seems to be doing the same thing. I like the idea of having all my health data in the same place.

I don't understand how it can accurately account for your steps unless you're holding/wearing it all day.

Its probably not super accurate, but since I use my phone so much it's usually in my hand or my pocket if I'm not at my desk. I think H and I are getting Apple watches for Christmas, and then it would be much more accurate.

Yea, it would have to be only accounting for your steps when it's with you. I wonder if it's using GPS/location to determine or if it's using the accelerometer.

I have set up the health app for my MIL and FIL so that they have emergency contacts available, since they refuse to have a ICE number. But I have never used it for myself. While I think the reproductive help is a good thing, I don't want all of my information to be tied to my cell phone. With FF, I would still have access with a droid phone, not just an Apple product.

It looks like it's a bit cumbersome to enter the data, but that's just after a super quick glance, hopefully they solicit feedback...
