Who watched last night? Thoughts? 

I am liking this show, in spite of how slow it has been these last couple of episodes. I have been disappointed in how few walkers they have given us, because one of the things I was especially looking forward to in this series was seeing more of the really early walkers. They have focused so much on what it going on within the zone that these characters are in right now, and I want to see more of what is going on outside. I am really hoping that is what these slower episodes are working up to. 

I also am looking forward to the development of many of these characters, especially Maddie and Nick. I have this feeling that Nick is going to end up being a really important character.

I was finally able to catch up last night and watched three episodes in a row haha. I am actually liking it more than I thought. I am actually bummed there are only two more episodes left.

Travis is seriously pissing me off with his whole "they're just sick!" crap. No. They are dead and they want to eat your face! I really like Maddie. She gets it and I think she will be a bad ass. I think Nick will be important because I do not think there is a hospital. I think it was actually bad luck for them that they didn't get out of the neighborhood before the National Guard moved in. I get a bad feeling from the guy in command. Conspiracy theory re: the hospital - there isn't actually a hospital and they are just picking out the "weak links" and getting rid of them. I think Nick is going to have to fight like hell to get back.

Also at the end of the episode when either Travis or Maddie goes up on the roof and looks at the house they saw the light coming were there gunshots? I am assuming it was the "cavalry" killing people they found that weren't actually walkers. When Maddie snuck outside the fence she mentioned that there were people who had been shot that weren't "sick" so I think they are just containing what neighborhoods they can and just killing everyone else. Because at this point there seem to be way more people than walkers but I think they don't have the resources to help everyone ...

TheEleventhHour, my H called that: he said that they were gunshots and where they are taking them to kill them. I didnt pick up on it at first, but then it clicked. I am sure you are right about the hospital theory.

But I still want to see what is going on behind the fence!!!11!!!1!!1!

Good thoughts, TheEleventhHour! I was also suspicious of the "hospital" that they were taking everyone to. It seemed like that was just a convenient way to get rid of people that were weak or had the potential to cause problems.

I really like this show, even though it is so slow. It was weird that we didn't really see any walkers last night, right? I really thought there would be more of a focus on walkers on this show. But it is interesting to see how society reacts to the zombies in a more urban setting than TWD.

@kellbell About Travis' ex wife ... so she isn't a nurse at all? In any capacity? I feel like I missed something. I heard the doctor mention she wasn't a nurse but then got confused on how she was doing what she was doing.

acorn99 I think we will see the outside very soon. I think they will leave their neighborhood to get/find Nick. And they won't go back because the guy in charged mentioned anyone who tries to leave will be "detained" (killed?) so I think if they go they have to stay gone. And we know from TWD that the help given by military/government didn't last long. In TWD we see so many abandoned sites, helicopters, etc.

I don't know, I think it's moving way too slow, especially since there are only 2 episodes left. And they have too many filler shots that take too long.

I agree that something shady is going on at the hospital. I find it strange that they are making a rift between Maddie and the ex wife, when at first they seemed to not have issues.

So they are killing people who aren't even sick. I wonder if that will be explained.

TheEleventhHour, if I recall from previous episodes, the ex-wife is in nursing school but not actually a nurse yet.

Yes, as pp's have stated she was in nursing school.

I agree the military will go down quickly but I am prepared for some ugly scenes before it's all over.

My theory is that the military is not organized anymore and the units that have gone in to areas of the city and taken over are acting on their own and not from any official orders. I think the government has "abandoned ship" (remember the CDC episode on TWD when Jenner said that most people working there left pretty quickly?) and now these military units are trying to create safe zones to save themselves. Why else would they kill healthy people on the outside, rather than bring them in to the safe zones? They want to keep the numbers down so they can keep better control of the people. I'm curious to see next week when they go to the "hospital". The coming attractions showed that they obviously take them somewhere but like most of you, I don't think it's really a hospital. I just know I don't think we've seen the last of Nick.

Favourite characters: Maddie and the Old Mexican man. they are survivors. I dont think we will see Griselda again.

Least favourite characters: Chris because he is going to try to do something stupid and I just know it. Travis because he is so eager to trust the military etc.

That being said I think both Chris and Travis have the ability to grow. I hope they do. Travis certainly had his eyes open when he saw the military follow his tip on the people outside the fence, and kill them all.

How about that hole Maddie cut in the fence?? That can't possibly backfire ever...

Right?! At this point I doesn't seem like there are a ton of walkers but give it a few more weeks and that hole spells bad news.

I was just thinking about the real reason for moving the sick people. Maybe it's not just that they're weak links but because the military already knows that people turn when they die and they want to get the people most likely to die out before they die and turn in to walkers. And Nick is thrown in there because he's a drug addict and more likely to OD and die (like the girl in the first episode). I don't know why that didn't occur to me when I was watching. I think while the government wasn't telling the general public the truth about what was happening, the military and police were being told more and seeing things first hand.

Ahhh this is a good point. And we know from TWD that even when people figure out that all people turn no matter how they die it is still really difficult to kill them so they probably figured people wouldn't be able to handle it.

Late to the party on this because we don't have cable and have to wait until Monday nights to watch it on Amazon!

I was thinking that they are taking the sick people not to help them, and not necessarily just to wipe them out, but maybe to experiment on them? It's only been nine days, so maybe they are still trying to figure out how exactly to kill them, how quickly they turn, why and how they turn, etc. Because I know these shows are supposed to have deep underlying themes re: humanity, it would be an interesting commentary on the morality of experimenting on the vulnerable and speeding up the inevitable for those few in order to save mass amounts of others.

I feel like Chris is eventually going to be the breakaway hero in all of this. Either that or he's going to suffer one of the most devastating deaths in the show.
