Short version
So, our little baby girl arrived Monday afternoon. She's perfect and doing great.
Long version
Baby was due Friday the 18th ... And was to be induced Monday morning if she didn't make an appearance before then. She didn't so we arrived at the hospital a little after the birthmother. We let her settle in before she invited us back to her room. She had 2 friends with her. We all hung around and small talked while the meds kicked in. Then around 10, we left her to rest for a while and hung out. She invited us back in around 4 for a little while. We left again when she was getting close to pushing and hung out in the waiting families room.
About 20 mins later her friend got a text with "She's Here" from the Birthmothers Mom. Then 2 pictures with "Show them". About 20 mins later or so the Birthmother sent for my husband and I. The walk to the room was so special.
We walked into the room and hugged her Mom. I then hugged the birth mom who was holding our daughter and she handed her to me. After I held her, my husband then did. Her mom caught the moment on her camera.
We spent the next couple of days in the hospital. (The hospital was nice enough to give us a room). The baby spent the majority of time with us but we also all hung out in the Birthmothers room together. She also spent alone time with the baby. We talked about so much. I will cherish those 3 days for ever.
Leaving the hospital was the toughest thing ever. My heart absolutely broke for the birthmother. She was crying too ... But managed to squeeze out that these are happy tears. Mine honestly were sad (&! I think her's were too)
We had exchanged numbers at the hospital. A few hours after getting home (or to the hotel). We got a text from the birthmother thanking us for giving her baby the life she couldn't, that we would make great parents and that she was at peace with her decision.
She signed her papers yesterday. We didn't get to see her, but our agency director said that she looked great (dressed up, makeup etc ... Didn't seem like she was crying all day ...) which warmed my heart.
We have plans to see each other in late October. But I'm sure we will be in contact in the meantime.
Sorry for the novel. But I think for those waiting that it's nice to picture what may happen (even though no 2 will be alike).
Thanks for everyone's support ... I will still be around here ...
