@usernamesarehard it is so hard to tell for sure on foods. I swear though that my LO struggles if I consume a ton of dairy, but she's okay if I just have a bit. For example, a whole glass of milk seems to bother her but cheese on a taco is fine. Who know though for sure.
Does anyone nurse while the baby is in the K'tan? This is going to be my first time baby wearing and I think if I could nurse while baby wearing it might make things easier during the day while trying to do things with the toddler.
I nursed in a ring sling and SSCs. With the SSC or a wrap you just losen the carrier and lower them down. Then hold your boob with one hand. Once they are bigger you shouldn't have to hold your boob for them.

@usernamesarehard I would try other things first. Bicycle legs lifting them from laying to sitting while holding them. We did gripe water instead of gas drops. I feel like some babies are just gassy no matter what you do.

I agree. DD1 had dairy and soy intolerance. It was horrible and the signs were obvious. She cried for hours (gas drops did nothing), she had bloody poops that were filled with mucous.
I would try the drops and also give it some time for the gas to clear up. IOf you see otherissues or it gets worse then it could be a dairy issue.
Just wondering for those who are EBFers, how long did it take for your LO(s) to get back to birth weight? DS has only gained 3 oz at his 2 week checkup and is still 8 oz away from his birth weight. Dr is having me coming back this week for another weight check. The part that's confusing for me though is he's making at least the minimum (usually more) of pees and poops daily. How concerned should I be about his weight?
For DS2 he was above his birth weight at his 5 day appt by 1oz but our doctor said that's really rare I guess. With DS1 I think it was closer to maybe 10 days?

It took 12 days for F to be back to birth weight. DD1 tool longer like 19 days. I think they say 10-14 days is the average for a EBF baby to return to birth weight. If he is gaining and having enough diapers then you are on the right tract. He should be back soon.
Thanks for the encouragement. I've been feeling bad that he was not back up to weight at 14 days.

. Sorry about all the issues but it's encouraging to have an explanation! Hope it's an easy fix with the ENT. FWIW switching from nursing to pumping really helped my pain and blisters heal quickly, along with the APNO.
I don't remember where (which thread) I posted about this, but BFing was going terribly and I initially thought it was a supply issue, since LO would just suck and suck and suck and barely get anything, while I would be in tears from the pain. Well, we saw our pedi office's LC today and when she saw my chest she gasped and winced. Turns out LO has a slight tongue tie, which is causing his gums to scrape against my nipples. He's rubbed them raw and now they're all scabbed. Sorry if that grosses anyone out Also, I'm so engorged that my nipples have practically flattened out. I'm "banned" from BFing for the next week but will be pumping on a strict 2.5- to 3-hour schedule to keep up my supply, and supplementing at every feeding if we need to. We're seeing a pediatric ENT tomorrow to assess and take care of the tongue tie.
OAN, LO lost 9 oz in the hospital and is now back up 1 oz, so I guess that's something!
Hugs. BF is so tough. I am glad they figured out what was going on and are going to fix the tie. I hope you feel better soon.

Big hugs ., glad you were able to figure out what was going on. DS2 had a tongue tie and a lip tie and had to have his tie clipped at 4 weeks old by the ENT. After that, it was smooth sailing in the nursing department. Hopefully you have the same luck!
So glad you have some answers ., hopefully the pumping helps you heal and hopefully you get the ties cleared up and you can get back to BFing, pain free. FWIW when we revised DS1, it was literally 2 seconds, he cried and I threw him on the boob and he was happily sucking away 6 seconds later. Revising it sounds worse than what it actually is
How long does the cramping last? I'm only on day 3 but I swear the pains are worse every day. I can't remember to save my life but it's just a few days generally, right?
I am sorry it's bad for you as well!
The first week was hell, one day I would finally feel good then I would be in the middle of the store and bam, it would hit me so bad, I could hardly walk out of the store.. (Yes that actually happened. . ) The second week was better. Week 3, I think I was feeling back to normal. now week 4 I am cramping on and off again! Wtf?
@superchargedmama, with ds1 I got chapped and bleed and didn't realize it was me till he starting spitting up blood and looked and realized it was from me. Once my nipples got used to it, it stopped and they were fine. He had a good latch and all, I think they were just super sensitive.
@tmg14, I have only ever done one side at each feeding. At first one sides bigger then the other but it regulates.

DD didn't regain her birthweight until maybe a month after she was born. She had a tongue tie and was a slow gainer. She's also petite and has stayed petite. The tongue tie clipping was probably more traumatic for me but she started nursing so much better immediately!
DS regained his birth weight and then some by his two week appt. he has a slight tongue tie but it hasn't been too bad. My nipples are in decent shape and toughening up again.
My let down is kind of painful. I barely felt letdown with DD so it's been interesting how strong it is this time.
stephyfaith, that's how my letdown is also. With ds1 hardly had any letdown, ds2 I felt it strong but this time it's actually almost painful it's so strong. And I choke ds out everytime so he pulls off and let's it go everywhere then he will re-latch.

It's really crazy how different two babies/nursing experiences can be! I have to put a burp cloth under my boob or my shirt will be soaked during feeds.

+1 exactly. I'm actually pumping 4-5 oz per day from my right before feeds, because it's just too much for LO. I usually pump it every other feeding during the day for about 1-2 oz per feeding. She does so much better after I have pumped some.
And yes, I'm blessed with an oversupply while nursing. My DD had some feeding issues, & I started EP'ing with her around 3 months of age. My supply definitely wasn't this good while pumping either. I ended up having to supplement. Pumping is hard!! Hang in there, & I hope getting LO back to the breast goes well.

Any tips for introducing a bottle? F is 4 weeks and i want H to be more involved in MOTN feedingd. We tried a dr. Brown bottle tonight and she flipped. She wouldn't have any of it.

Is anyone else still super hungry all the time? I could eat all day. And sometimes do.
Affirmative.
I. Holding back from eating Oreos right now... Esp since I already had ice cream before coming upstairs...
We saw a lactation consultant today who was awesome. Things were going pretty well for us in general but I thought we had a few things to fix (latch issues mainly). She gave us some pointers so I've been working on implementing them.
does anyone else get back pain for, hunching over? I think I need to nurse exclusively from my glider, humph.

mrsg80intn First of all, Oreos. Why are they so good? We've been going through at least a package a week of the double stuff. No bueno.
And the hunching back pain, yes! The only thing that helps me is the Breast Friend pillow, it totally saves my back. Unfortunately for me I can't get my girls to latch well when they're lying on the pillow, so I've pretty much switched to EPing. Do you have a pillow?

With DD I started with those as well and it did not work. Lactation consultant suggested I use playtex slow flow nipples with the drop in liners & it changed everything for us!
