Thank you all for the congratulations on my initial announcement. We got home from the hospital yesterday and I can now find the time to write out Clark's birth story and attach a picture.
TLDR: 11.5 hours of labor Cl.ark Jo.hn was born. Very smooth and dramatically different from my last labor. I'm feeling really good considering I just pushed a 9lb 4oz baby out of my vagina.
I went in for an induction, terrified, at 12:30 am Sunday morning. By the time I got a room and was checked it was 3 am when they started the pitocin. I was at 3 cm and 90% effaced so I didn't need any cervical rippening. The pitocin started regular contractions but they weren't very painful and I slept through them on and off until about 9 am when the doctor broke my water. I was at 4 or 5 cm, I don't remember. About 15 minutes later I asked for the epidural because the contractions were getting bad. Of course everyone wants an epidural at the same time so it took about an hour for me to get mine around 10:30. This was the worst part of my whole labor and it really wasn't that bad. I just breathed through the contractions but they weren't even close to as bad as they had been during my first labor. Once the epidural kicked in I slept another hour and woke up for the doctor to check me I was at an 9 almost 10. Not long after I was at a 10 but the doctor was having to do a c-section so they turned off my pitocin because I was having the pressure to push and they were worried while the c-section was happening I might not be able to stop myself. Around 1 the nurse had me start pushing while the doctor was finishing up but without the pitocin I didn't have the urge to push anymore. I ended up pushing for almost an hour but he wasn't coming down. Clark was facing the wrong direction so they had me lie on my side to see if he would rotate and I asked them to turn the pit back on so I would have the urge to push come back. When the doctor came in they had me push on my side. I could feel where to push and had a mirror and I had him out in about 10 minutes. He was born at 2:23. Start to finish my labor was about 11 and a half hours long and it was really smooth and mostly painless.
I have a 2nd degree tear but it's much better than last time. I guess I tore in the same spot but not as badly. I'm feeling really good in comparison. I really can't believe how smoothly the whole thing went. My second labor I hope will give other people who had rough first times some hope for their second time.
Now for what you all really want.
