I am sure that we are just at the beginning of the paperwork mountain, but I think we might be pretty much finished our paperwork for our approval process. We will be handing the rest in tonight! Every time I think we are done, I realized I have missed something else! Lol! Police checks and consents and financial documents and insurance documents and marriage certificates and pet documents etc etc etc! I am hoping the bulk of it is done and we can start to concentrate on our profile book!
I am really feeling impacted by the training and it is allowing me to be open to looking in depth at ourselves. The homework from this past week was going through our genealogy and seeing what we can learn from it. Mine was quite a web of people! Lol
Tell me, are we just at the beginning of the paperwork mountain or will it start to slow down?

For us there was a lot of paperwork prior to the homestudy, and then another pile around placement. I anticipate there will be another slew of paperwork around finalization as well. The placement paperwork was more just initialing and signing a lot of things rather than having to put thoughtful answers down.
Good luck with your profile book! While that was really stressful, I actually really enjoyed trying to sum up the most important part of our lives/pictures for expectant parents to read.

My experience was that there was a huge stack of papers prior to home study, a short questionnaire during to say what we were open to. Then at placement there were a few papers to sign and we got a big file with all his history and medical info. For our (canceled) finalization there was only one form to fill out. So it dwindles significantly after each phase, in my experience.

What kind of an adoption are you pursuing? We adopted internationally, and for us there was the homestudy pile, the dossier pile (which was worse), and then the immigration pile. Each stage came with it's own mountain of paperwork.

Captain Serious we are doing adoption or foster to adopt through our local CAS. I can't even begin to imagine the paperwork involved with the dossier and immigration!
It feels like maybe the paperwork might slow down a little, with just our weekly homework assignments from our training (I hope).
packerfan4life I know the profile book with be a big project, but I am also looking forward to getting it started. I find the training is helping to look at our family as a whole unit, and notice the positives (as well as understand the challenges and what I have learned from those experiences). DH started exploring the idea a while back, but I don't think he got too far.

We filed, literally, 101 sheets of paper as part of our homestudy. We had to fill out one sheet of paper for the profile so that it could on the website. I have heard we will face a much smaller stack of paper if/when we have to renew our homestudy. Just keep pushing through and make sure to spoil yourselves with some sort of treat when you get to the end!
We did DIA and our paperwork was at home study (tons) then just signing when we took custody. We signed a ton of things but I didn't consider it paperwork. We have gone through a finalization and I only remember a few things. So for us it was all at home study time.

delenire Good luck at your class! I am enjoying the class and DH told me last night that he is really learning a lot, so it's great! How many weeks will your training be?
