FEAR the Walking Dead 9/27 (Spoilers)

Who watched this weekend? I just caught up last night. 

I think all of our hypotheses about the "hospital" are true. It looks like they are using a lot of people to try and understand what is going on. I am really curious how that guy Nick meets in his jail-place will figure into things, I think his name is Strand (?). This episode also helped me to hate Alicia and Chris a bit less. I guess it has to be hard being forced into house arrest as a teenager in the zombie apocalypse, so it made me kind of understand their moody brooding. 

I am hoping that Travis's experience behind the fence is opening his eyes more the reality of the situation, and how the military are not really there to help any one but themselves. He still seems sort of clueless though. 

I must say I am a bit disappointed with this series so far. When you think back to the first season of TWD, it was jam-packed with excitement the first season. This show seems to be banking on the fact that the people watching are going to keep up with it because they are fans of the genre and are really slow rolling these early episodes. But I am definitely one of the suckers who will not stop watching. MOAR ZOMBIES.

I'm trying to figure out if we can trust Dr. Exner at all. I'm having a hard time getting a read on her. I know before the show started, they said there would be an appearance from a key TWD season 1 character. My theory is that Dr. Exner works for the CDC, sent to LA to help, and we are going to see her communicating with Dr. Jenner from the Atlanta CDC.
I actually think the show moving at a good pace. When TWD first started, it was already a month after everything started happening. The world had completely gone to shit at that point. We're seeing it from the beginning when it's just a few people turning here and there at first. It's actually pretty cool to think about how quickly everything went downhill if civilization is almost destroyed within 30 days. It is it's own show and it would make no sense if it was the same as TWD just in a different location. But I think they made a mistake by having "the Walking Dead" in it's title because if it truly wants to be it's own show, it needs to really separate itself and having the title of the other show in the title of this show makes it hard to separate the two.
I am so excited for TWD to start - less than 2 weeks!

I caught up last night also acorn99, I thought this episode was great. I love Ruben blades the actor playing Daniel Salazar- he's a badass and my favorite character so far. I agree that a little empathy for the situation the teens are in resulted from this episode.
Next Sunday the real deal!

I watched. It was better then the previous. If this was a standalone show without TWD, it wouldn't last. It'll be interesting what they do for the season finale.

Can't wait for TWD to come back on!

I've been a fan of this show and mostly enjoyed the slow pace, but I kept thinking it would pick up and get really exciting and suspenseful. Well, it still feels very slow and it's hard to believe that the season finale is next week! I'm not sure what there will be to wrap up in the finale, because it seems like most of the storylines are just beginning. I appreciate the character development and finding out a little at a time what is going on, but I think they needed more episodes in a "season" if this is the pace they wanted to go.

I still don't feel particularly attached to any of the characters (I honestly have a hard time remembering everyone's names!) but I'm excited to see what they do in the finale. Hopefully we'll actually see some walkers! Does anyone know if there will be more seasons of FTWD?

sleepymonkey, I am really intrigued by your theory! I had no idea that there would be any crossover, but that idea makes sense!
easilyunamused, I absolutely agree about how this could not stand alone. In TWD, I wanted to know what happened to Rick from episode 1! They have really not given us any characters that I am dying to follow and much excitement to get us worked up over.
ceejay, it looks like season 2 is in the works for 15 episodes.

I agree that it's been hard to really care about the characters. So far I think the most interesting is Daniel. He's a badass who will do whatever it takes to keep his family safe. And for some reason, I also "like" Nick. He's not likeable but I think his character has potential. The guy in the "jail" saw something useful in him and I think it's that because he's a heroin addict, it's assumed that he's crafty and manipulative so he can score. Those are skills that could be very useful in the zombie apocolypse, given he doesn't die from withdrawal or OD first.

I guess I disagree with some of you about the characters; yes, I wanted to know Rick's story from the get-go, but the other characters annoyed the hell out of me. I like the uncomfortable state of ok, when is something going to happen? !what is going on with the hospital/cobalt, etc. I just love the premise so much I am willing to overlook mild annoyances maybe?
