We pay out our assholes in taxes because DH is technically self-employed. I mean, I realize none of his income is withheld, but it's still stressful to pay quarterly. Bye bye bank account!
This is us too (except it is me who is technically self-employed). I hate writing that check every few months. It blows.

@bruxannie no fee listed on the charges just $X minimum payment and $X past due. Should I pay those numbers added together or does the minimum factor that in? You are now the wisdom holder of all things money related.
lol. and I'm terrible with my own money, but that's a story for another day.
I think you could be OK just paying the minimum, but the amount will stay past due. If you can swing it, I'd pay both amounts ASAP to be done with it. And keep an eye on your statement to watch for a late fee. I'm surprised they didn't assess one.
life twins as per.
I am so good at giving other people advice. I just don't follow it.
I may or may not have chased an out of town Girl Scout off our block the other day...DH seemed pretty turned on that I was willing to defend our turf.
I did tell her she could have the next block over - because I'm really not THAT ambitious edit: turned on, I don't know what turned out even means
I wouldn't have left. You snooze you lose. You aren't out here, I am.

I really don't think you would have told my precious angel "you snooze you lose" It wasn't that intense, they had just parked and were walking up to our house as we were walking out to start selling so she practically volunteered to leave. I'm sure I didn't look all that intimidating - probably that she didn't want to crush the spirit of my little Daisy in her blue vest clutching her order form excitedly.
I have to put money away before I even see it. Like, part of my check goes directly in to our savings at a credit union. We do all our spending/bill paying out of Chase. I don't even have checks or a card for our savings account.
Yeah, this is what we are doing. I said, we are calculating how much we can save each paycheck and just taking the chunk out as soon as the check comes. Otherwise, I manage to spend it.
I always look at my accounts and say: bills are paid, so I'm going shopping until my account balance is zero.
Oh, our bills are always paid. Our credit scores are awesome. I just always think I have more money than I do and poof it disappears.
Yeah, we don't really have debt other than the house, but we really don't have the savings account that we should. That's why I have to make sure the retirement and college fund go straight from the paycheck into the appropriate accounts because if it hits checking it might dissappear.
yeah, college and retirement and paying down mortgage are all part of the "bills" I pay. But I struggle to not spend all the leftover money in my checking account.
Would it kill me to have money in my account the day before payday?!?
