STM- Sibling Similarities and Differences (POLL)

Just for fun, and stolen/modified from May, how similar is LO from his/her sibling(s) thus far?  You can pick as many or as few answers as you like and of course feel free to discuss.

One of DD's daycare teachers was commenting to DH this morning about how she wishes DD had a similar personality as LO, i.e. very easy going and happy. DH responded that her personality was exactly the same when she was this age... and then the terrible twos (and the precursor) hit. Now she is frequently in a bad mood and walks around with a pouty face half the time. Honestly, almost everything else about this LO thus far has been similar (but not exactly the same) as his sister.

DD looked very similar to DS when first born, but is growing into her own "look". I don't think they're ever going to be able to deny eachother as siblings, but they aren't as close in appearance any more.

DD is also close physically and developmentally to where DS was at this age.

DS was for sure more easy going and a better sleeper earlier on.

While their facial features are pretty similar, down to the same dimple, DS2 is dark in features and DS1 very fair so they still look very different. Very different personalities, sizes, sleep habits, etc. It is really interesting to see the differences appear!

These two have been different from the start.

My pregnancies were completely different, starting with no morning sickness with him, and having it with her.

He's a boy, she's a girl.

He was preemie, she was 9lb4oz.

Deliveries were actually similar..incredibly unexpectedly rushed under 4 hours without meds. When they were ready they were ready haha.

They look different, have totally picked up opposite family features.

He was always surprising people with his physical abilities (especially for his prematurity), she is a big, loud talker. I call her my observer, and him my doer

I could have fed DS for days and nights straight for the first 4-6 months, and my boobs and my sleep get a bit of a break with her!

I'm going to be kept on my toes figuring these two out I think! They get along as great as a baby and 2 year old can, her chillness goes well with his crazy and they find each other to be quite the riot!

This has been my experience, except obviously mine are the same sex.


Looks:  They started out looking really similar to me, but started looking different around 1 month.  I think they'll both end up blonde, but BH's hair is lightening more slowly than LBB's did, so he might not be such a towhead.  His eyes aren't darkening as quickly as LBB's either.

Growth: LBB was not a great nurser from the start, BH is.  What's interesting is that their growth percentiles for weight are the same at various ages, but BH is soooooo much longer.  (He is currently as long as LBB was at 10 months, and he's not even 4 months yet).  His head circumference is in the 70s, while LBB was in the teens.

Sleep:  I know I post this all the time, but LBB was a much needier sleeper.  BH I can put down awake and he'll go to sleep.  He doesn't need to be rocked.  LBB always needed to be rocked.  He also is much quicker with MOTN wakes, as opposed to lazy nurser LBB.  AND he sleeps in the swing and carseat, which LBB never did.

Personality:  LBB was much more high needs.  He had to be held and he fussed.  BH is ridiculously mellow.  You can lay him down just about anywhere.  He only fusses in the car, which is similar to LBB, and when he has a dirty diaper.  My favorite though is how much he loves to laugh and smile.  I keep saying that he's the perfect foil to LBB since LBB loves to make people laugh, and BH will laugh at just about everything.  He also is already rolling, whereas LBB never rolled.

Both of my boys are pretty much the same size (DS1 90th height, 100th head, 30th weight, DS2 90th height, 90th head, 25th weight).

They both are good nighttime sleepers, however, DS1 was a terrible napper, DS2 is a great napper.

They look like brothers, but not super similar. DS1 has my blonde hair, DS2 has DH's reddish brown hair.

Their temperaments are night and day. DS1 was the worst baby imaginable. DS2 makes me want to have 20 more children. He never cries and is just a happy little guy.

Pretty much opposites, including pregnancies and deliveries. They do both look like DH bit in different ways I'd that makes sense.

Totally different! Everything has been easier with DD except conception and rough start to breaatfeeding because of a tongue tie. Pregnant with DS on the first try, Dd took 18 months. Totally different pregnancies and deliveries. DD is mich bigger and mich much easier. She is content to hang out be smile and coo, while DS was a colicy mess. Sometimes when she sleeps she reminds me of DS as a newborn, and her eyes will probably eventually turn brown, but they don't look similar. So very glad I have an easier by this time around!

DD1 was longer at birth(24in crazy long) and had black hair where DD2 had Strawberry blonde hair. Now DD1 has blonde hair and Dd2 is more golden. Both have giant blue eyes. They look a lot a like considering they have different dads and DD1 is half Indian. I don't know how they are personality wise since I have DD1 up for adoption. She still has blonde hair and big blue eyes at 11.

The biggest difference is size DD1 was 6lbs 9oz, DD2 was 6lbs 12oz, this guy, 8lbs 9oz.
DD1 was slow to gain weight and has always been teeny tiny, still in the % for height and weight. DD2 grew a little better, but as still been only in the 15% at most. So far he is 80%+
They all look different to me, but it's about 50/50 as to what other people think. Some say they look so different and some say how alike they all look.
All have been good nursers
DD1 liked a paci, DD2 sucked her thumb, and this guy does both, ha!
None of them liked to be swaddled.
All have been good sleepers (KNOCK ON WOOD)

Mine are such different babies.

DD1 was and still is very petite. She's always hovered around the 10th percentile mark. She had thick black hair and big brown eyes. She was very fussy during the day and rarely laughed, but slept through the night.

DD2 is a chubby little thing, somewhere around the 75th percentile,, with blue eyes and a tiny bit of blonde hair. She's the happiest, most smiley little girl but she is a terrible sleeper.
