First, I'm so sorry for your losses. I'm an RPLer and wanted to add to some of the good advice here.

I strongly second the recommendation about the book Coming to Term, when you are ready for it. It's an excellent read and will give you a deeper understanding of miscarriage (and how little we really know about it). It's basically a lit review and interviews of miscarriage researchers.

The American Society of Reproductive Medicine does now recommend testing after 2 losses. I'm with an RPL specialist and she recommends testing after 2 losses. This is new, and as with most change, is very slow to be accepted. Read here if you want more details (it's long, but a very good source of info). You are well within reason to want the standard RPL testing after 2 losses. If you want it done, and your doctors still refuse, find one that will.

Thanks! I'm in Canada but my doctor is being really great. She said she was willing to do the testing I just declined it at the time. I have the rx for progesterone on my fridge with intent to take it but I don't have a clue where my levels are at.

@jennatles, the standard testing is mostly just blood work, if you were having second thoughts about declining it.

Progesterone is in the 'can't hurt, might help' category, and as mentioned, it's hard to get a good measure of your progesterone levels. It's very commonly prescribed.

I declined it based on the fact that she said if my levels were normal taking the supplement wouldn't be harmful. But my overthinking mind wants an actual number. She said to wait a cycle to start again so I definitely still have time to do the progesterone testing once I get a period again.

Eta: I'm also kind of sick of pokes and pricks however. I've read b6 and zinc help with progesterone production so I'm gonna supplement those OTC too.

Just to clarify - by RPL testing, I meant several tests to rule out issues known to cause miscarriage - some clotting disorders, thyroid problems, a karyotype, etc.  FWIW, outside of pregnancy, I've never had my progesterone level checked.

So sorry for your losses. My husband is pretty introverted/private as well, it can be extra isolating when the person who's "in this with you" doesn't seem as affected. But sometimes it's also good to have someone to counter-balance / "be strong for" us.
