Thinking ahead…Christmas presents from Baby

Don't shoot me…there are only 11 weekends between now and Christmas, and I am a pre-planner (I can't be the only one…right?)

I am starting to think about the gifts that will be from LO.  We will need something for the grandparents, 3 sets of Aunties/Uncles, and the babysitter.  I think something homemade will be the most cost effective route to go.  But I don't know what to make.  

Anyone else starting to think about these things?  Any ideas floating around?  

Or am I crazy for thinking about this already?

Nope not too early at all. We're doing our regular gifts from us as normal and then photo gifts from little one. Normally I think doing photo gifts is tacky but after my family got into a fight over who got the photo mug we made for my mom we've decided to go that route. Shutterfly has really beautiful stuff and we'll be able to make something that each person will use.

We're going to make photo albums for grandparents. I forgot to use my two free shutterfly codes, though, ugh.

Girl, I have already been making both the kids amazon wish lists, thinking of ideas for cards and planning gifts

Im a pre planner too! This year for Grandparents we are doing a shutterfly picture calendar. For Aunts/ Uncles I was thinking of getting the kids artwork put onto coffee mugs with a starbucks giftcard inside. For DS his art work would probably be a little paint on a piece of paper inside a ziplock that I let him rub around or a little hand/footprint that is made into an animal. Babysitter is getting a giftcard and personalized tumbler so no homemade there

We did this one year for holiday cards for LBB's daycare providers.  They LOVED it!  And it's really easy.

We only do kid gifts for the grandparents, and they get school pictures and photo calendars.  Everyone else just gets a gift from us as a family.

Now I am inspired. There is a Michaels across the street from the babysitters house. I will be stopping there after work tonight to pick up some things to try a few different styles of hand print crafts! I will report back with the finished results

I saw something similar to this where you put elders glue on baby's hand or feet and then press them on an ornament.  Then you take glitter and put it on there.  Looked really easy and super cute.  You can write the year and all that too.

This one is super cute!  Much easier to do with the older kids that with babies.  2 years ago I made one with each infant in my class as a Christmas gift for their parents.

I also did something like this with the babies (this was my gift to them)


I painted the entire block black and then used mod podge to stick the pictures on with. I put the hook in a corner and was then able to put photos on all sides but one. The side that didn't have a photo had a sticker with the first letter of their first name on it (I think I used a glittery red script style sticker). I just used some of my favorite photos of them during the year.

It's not too early... but I don't think I'll be giving gifts "from" my LO. It's probably just a thing people do or don't do, but no one in my family gives gifts from the little kids (like 2 and under). They pass out school pictures when they get sent home, but that's about it! lol.

BUT, you've inspired me to maybe make an ornament for DH.

I don't think it's too early at all! I've been working on Christmas presents for atleast a month now.

B is giving my parents and DH's parents a 3 part frame that will have one of his baby photos in the center, an impression of his foot on one side, and his hand on the other. I think for aunts and uncles, we'll do one of his baby photos and maybe something similar to the hand print ornaments that someone else posted above

With our family, everyone "gives" a gift, even the dogs.  (The dogs give things like calendars or $5 starbucks gifts cards).   

So, for example, this year, DH & I will give my parents a gift, our pup will give her grandparents a small gift, and Charlotte will give something small and homemade.  

I know it's silly, but I gotta say, I love getting a calendar from my parents dog every year.  It's super cute

I'm so glad you said this. I was starting to feel like the only one who had never done gifts from our baby before. I find it hard enough to keep up w all the presents we need to buy for family extended already.

To be fair im just kidding. My dogs both get stockings on our mantle. I'm just in awe of those organized enough to give gifts from your dog and from LO and so on and so on.

Ha!  I was just thinking, "wow, how would they react if they knew my parents had stockings for all their granddogs that get filled with bones and treats".

We fill ours with bones and squeaky toys too and so do my parents. I'm all about spoiling everyone in the family on xmas day.

We will just be adding LO's name to gifts from us. I like the ornament idea, if I was to do anything it would be along those lines. Honestly, both my parents and the in-laws have so much junk.... er, stuff, that they are not even fun to shop for. That is a whole other thread though!

That's always our dilemma too. What do you get the person that already has everything? I end up doing personalized food gift baskets a lot of the times. Like special teas and jams etc

We make one every year of the dog and order through Walmart. I think it only takes a week or so to arrive, so you have plenty of time!

Shutterfly doesn't take too long either. I just made one for my dad- not a Christmas present, just for fun.
