I registered for that stuff. No one actually gifted those items to us, but it made it easier to remember which crib we really liked so we could order it later. Plus a bunch of very generous friends went in together to get us a huge gift card to the store we registered at, so we could use that money toward some of the big ticket items on our registry. So go ahead and register for your nursery furniture , I don't think it's tacky at all .

Plus they'll count towards registry rewards % if it's BRU or you can use a completion coupon on it towards the end of your pregnancy. Also, if you have issues with anything or want to return something beyond the normal time frame and it's on your registry, it makes it much easier to deal with the store if you don't have a receipt or get a gift receipt.

Not tacky. We registered for all of the items that we were interested in, but we were planning on purchasing the big ticket items anyway. We used the list as a checklist for making purchases, and then would get online and check them off as purchased (even if we didnt get them from that store), so people knew that we already had those items (and didn't buy one, thinking that we just forgot to add it to the registry). And it made it easier for my husband, if he was swinging by on the way home from work to grab something, he could look at the list and would remember which one to get.

Not tacky. I, too, used it as a list of things I liked or needed. Then as I purchased things like the furniture as I found them cheaper on Craiglist! The only really large things I had left on the registry by shower time was our strollers and our video monitor. And I plan to use our completion discounts on those. I also did the other extreme with adding all the embarrassing breastfeeding cremes and soothing pads, not for those to be presents, but for me to keep track of.

Like others said, throw everything on the registry, big and small. Put crib, mattress, stroller, etc as well diapers and diaper cream, bottles, etc. When u go to buy them in store to stock up, u can use your completion coupons for them.
