It's Friday and I'd rather be drinking!

Well, it's now officially after noon on the east coast, which means it's time for "I'd rather be drinking", the weekly thread where we get to gripe about whatever is annoying you today and/or lament the fact that you can't have any booze.

My boss is absolutely driving me crazy! We have a big upcoming deadline, which I've been working diligently on, but she has been barging into my office multiple times a day demanding updates. I cannot convince her that I'd be far more productive if she simply left me alone to do my job. Getting her "feedback" every 2 hours is counterproductive. I hate micro-managers. So here I am, counting down the minutes until 5 o'clock and rolling my eyes every time I hear a knock on the door. And I still really want a beer.

I really wish I could have a glass (or three) of wine. I have so much work to do but I can't get motivated. I'm getting irrationally annoyed at people who are asking me to do things that are part of my job requirement.

I just got routed to 4 different departments at Kaiser trying to make my first prenatal appt. It should not take 35 minutes to make a simple OB appointment. Bring on the weekend!

I put in to have a vacation day off work today... do house work take a nap.

But because nobody else could get their shit together - here I am at work. And i was even in my office earlier today than I have been all week. I'll be lucky to get out before 4. I have a major work event November 12th and then every week after that at INSANE with work projects until Christmas. Then my biggest fundraising event (which only happens every other year) is April 1 - so I'm already swamped with that... And then we have our 5k April 30th.

I'm technically a "communications and development director" - but basically i do all special event planning, newsletters, facebook, monthly newspaper column, thank you letters/cards, PR person, volunteer coordinating, public speaking.. I am swamped for the next 6 months.

ETA:  I'd love a Miller lite or 4.

Little has decided that 5am is an appropriate time to wake up, despite my trying everything I can think of to make her sleep later, even just an hour longer. I need a coffee/alcohol combo.

Apparently I am a terrible mom today. DD has been screaming and crying since she practically woke up. And DH is sick. Fun day at the athn household.

I'll also add that I just tried a handful of pumpkin spice M&M's and let me tell you - those things are NASTY! Now I want some scotch to wash the taste out of my mouth.

Maybe she's just super ready for daylight savings time? You have my sympathy; we went though that a couple weeks ago.

I am starving all the time. I swear, I have come a bottomless pit of hungry and I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate it. I am not looking to exceed my weight gain before I am out of first tri (praying I make it that far).

I would also love a glass of wine, but the smell is totally repulsive.

I have serious mixed feelings about Kaiser... I like when I actually get to see a doctor, but the admin stuff is unreal!

Yeah, most of the doctors have been great (I adore our pedi), and I love the communication through the website, but the admin side and driving an hour each way for appointments based on how they have the various departments placed in different centers can get a bit old.

Me too on the starving. And there is no intermediate "kinda hungry"... Its content to famished in 60 seconds. And i am trying to snack healthy, i swear!!!

I'm just tired and have no motivation to do anything at work. I just want to sleep all day and not have to talk to people!

I actually don't miss wine as much as I thought I would. Although it's been less than a week so I'm sure that will come. Sadly I do have a half full box of wine in my cupboard that might go to waste since H won't drink it

Is it bedtime yet? I really want it to be bedtime. But on the other hand, I'm feeling really old knowing I'm going to bed before my 80 year old grandma.

Me too on the starving. And there is no intermediate "kinda hungry"... Its content to famished in 60 seconds. And i am trying to snack healthy, i swear!!!

I made mac and cheese for lunch and ate two bowls. Then I had ice cream during naptime. I was all "no regrets" at the time but now feel kinda bad for having given in to my starving self!

Don't feel bad. Actually older people need much less sleep than we do. I'm never ashamed of my love for sleep. I like at least 9 hours/night. How the heck I'm going to manage the sleep deprivation that comes with a baby is beyond me... It's probably what terrifies me the most about parenthood.

Sleep deprivation was the main thing that I worried about during my first pregnancy too. It's amazing how fast you adapt to the little sleep that you get. I mean, you're still exhausted, but somehow your body adjusts so that you can still function.

Sleep deprivation was the main thing that I worried about during my first pregnancy too. It's amazing how fast you adapt to the little sleep that you get. I mean, you're still exhausted, but somehow your body adjusts so that you can still function.
