Hey guys I haven't had much time with the whirlwind of events, but I need some serious thoughts and prayers. I went to labor and delivery around 2 today bc things just didn't feel right and my normal BH were hurting a lot more. Long story short got hooked up on monitors and was having some irregular contractions so they did a cervical check and was dialated to a one. So they decided to admit me and monitor as well as give magnesium to hopefully stop contractions and help babies brains and steroids for lungs. I've been in my l&d room since around 5 and have had so many tests and meds I've lost track. I know they tested for group b strep and did an u/s. I'm hooked up to a heart monitor, three baby heartbeat monitors, and a contraction monitor. I've gotten magnesium, penicillin, steroid shot, Demerol, zofran, flagyl, a cathadar, and even more stuff I can't even remember. I'm still having contractions every 2-3 min but they don't hurt and aren't as strong so I'm praying it's all working and I'll only be here 24 hrs to get my second dose of magnesium and steroid injection.
Sorry for the rambling. Short explanation is I'm in l&d with preterm labor and I need some serious thoughts and prayers.

Just got checked again. Still at 1cm but she said my cervix is pretty thin. They took me off all the monitors as long as I tell them if anything changes. Stopped the slow drip of magnesium. As long as nothing changes catheter comes out and I get to move to the antepardem floor. They think they stopped the labor and the bad contractions. These that I'm still having are more of my normal contractions and they aren't concerned about them as long as they don't start hurting again or change etc. so very good news.

Oh my gosh! Sounds like a scary night, but glad to hear things are settling down. FX they stay that way for many more weeks. I hope you are able to go home soon.
Sorry I haven't updated DH and the nurse took my phone away (for good reason) about 45 min into the lets wait and see how you do off the magnesium etc I started having intense contractions on top of each other. I was in really bad pain as each contraction was getting closer together and so I called the nurse. She rushed in hooked me up to monitors and called the dr. My contractions were less than a minute apart and we're off the charts. They gave me pain meds and DH coached me through them. I don't know where he learned it as we haven't done any classes since I never expected to actually go through labor but he was amazing. They went ahead and did another cervical check and I'm now dialated to a two. Anyhow they gave pain meds, started magnesium again, and gave a high high dose of something orally to stop the contractions. They never totally went away but they became about 2-3 min apart and were tolerable pain wise. So we were in the clear once again.
I haven't slept at all. I'm still have contractions every 2-3 min and still dialated to a two and I'm a nervous wreck but babies are still inside me for now and that's what matters. The plan is to stay on magnesium as well as whatever this magic pill is and make it to the first goal which is to get my second dose of steroids at the 24 hr mark (6-8pm tonight). From there we will reassess. They are hoping my contractions will calm down and I can be moved from l&d into the antepardem wars where the monitoring won't be as severe and start strict hospitalized bed rest and make it as long as possible before the babies are born.

Ugh. I'm sorry this is happening. I'm glad to hear the magnesium is keeping things settled down, though. i hope it's not making you feel too terribly. T&P to you and your three sweet LOs.
Thanks ladies. Contractions are still about 2-4 min apart and very severe. Took more pain meds with the hope it would calm the babies and contractions. Hasn't really worked. I'm expecting another cervical check at shift change. They are trying to leave my cervix alone as much as possible but we need to know if I'm progressing. Good news is only 3 hours until our first goal. 24 hrs so I can get both steroid injects.
