Hello Ladies,
I am sorry I have been MIA for a couple of weeks, but my little lady decided to make an entrance on October 7th, and things have been a bit busy.
On Oct. 7th, I went to work that morning thinking that there was no way I was giving birth any time soon. My doctor's appointment the day before showed that I was 0% dilated, and I was scheduled to be induced on the 15th. I was in a meeting at 9:30am and started noticing a big pain in my lower back. I thought I had slept wrong or something. The I noticed that it was consistently happening and started timing it. The pain was 5 minutes apart and lasted for 1.5mins. I left the meeting and called the doctor, and they told me to go to L&D. This is when I thought I had peed myself, because, you know, that happens. Then I realized that it was my water leaking, and not pee. So, I went back to my meeting and told my boss that I had to leave because I was in labor.
I drove myself to the hospital (it was only 5 mins from my office) and got put into a temporary emergency labor room since all the final L&D rooms were occupied. My husband arrived around 11:00 and this is when my back labor started to get really bad. I decided that I wanted an epidural, but they wouldn't give me one until I got into the permanent L&D room. I had to wait until 3:00pm to finally get into the L&D room. By this time my back contractions were excruciating, and I didn't think I could make it much longer. FINALLY, the anesthesiologist showed up like an angel from god and gave me the epidural. That was the best thing in the whole world! I was dilating about a centimeter and hour. Finally by 9:45 I was ready to start pushing. I had to push for almost an hour and a half, and I wasn't sure I could even push any more, I was so exhausted. I had to have an episiotomy to get her out the last part.
At 11:08pm, my sweet baby girl, Caroline, was born. She was 7lb 11oz and 19.5in long. I am so in love with her! The only issue we have had was when she was 4 days old. She suddenly stopped breast feeding and didn't eat for almost 15 hours. Finally I had to pump and give her a bottle because she was getting dehydrated. We have tried to get back to breast feeding, but I have accepted that it just isn't going to happen. I am content with the fact that pumping and bottle feeding has been going well, and that she is getting the food she needs.
Sorry for the VERY long story, but here are a couple of pictures for making it to the end!!
