Best ways to wake a newborn? Help

So I need to wake M.aggie up to feed her cause she's sleeping so long (4-5 hr increments mostly) and wakes up super fussy so I can't BF her with title taking 5+ mins to get her to latch. It's hard on mom and baby. I've tried kissing her, talking loudly,  tickling feet, changing her diaper (this works if it's needed but she's still super fussy)... 

Just wondering if you all have any ideas or helpful hints.

Sounds like my DS. I've even put ice on his back and feet using an ice pack and he hardly reacts. Fortunately he's improved a little bit still LOVES to sleep. I'm looking for ideas too. Undressing doesn't do much either

Our go to is naked time/diaper change. Pisses him right off.

Cold also works, cold wash cloth or putting a bit of cold water on the belly. Mean, but works.

Also some tickling, if it works for your lo.

@tmg14, rondosa, Maggie0424, she feeds best when naked but it doesn't always wake her up and it doesn't help the pre latch fussiness... Is that fussiness just something to expect? It's so hard watching her fuss when I know she's hungry.

Yes the pre latch fussiness is totally a thing, it helps if you can keep their hands pinned somehow ie swaddled and also if you have your hand on their head and you can sorta direct them. Sometimes getting up and moving places or positions can snap them out of it. As soon as I see an open mouth I'm kinda forceful with getting that open mouth over the nipple. Gotta be quick! If he's super frantic it sounds weird but I rub his nose with my nipple to try and get his attention.

Sometimes expressing a bit of milk and rubbing it on their tongue can calm them down enough to focus and latch.

Have you tried dream feeding? If she is sleeping 4-5 hours, you could do it around 3 hours. It might help her not be that fussy when she wakes up and you could do a full feeding then. It is typically used to get babies to sleep longer, but it might be effective in her being less hungry when she wakes up.

If not, we found undressing was the best option with DD. And then kept her undressed in case we needed to put an ice cube in her belly to startle her back awake.

I undress and do bicycle legs and try for a burp. It seems like DS2 needs to poop or pass gassy before really focusing on eating.

It never worked for me

DS was a lazy eater in the beginning. My go to was a diaper change before feeding. I had to wake him every two hours during the day and every three at night. Once we hit about 2 weeks, he started waking up on his own to eat. The first two weeks are tough but it gets easier.

Diaper change then use a cold wipe and give her a little wipe bath. If that Dosent work cold wash cloth. My dd really wakes up when we rub the bottom if her feet, pediatrician actually told us that one. Good luck with waking up your sleepy head. We struggled with it too.

My DS is a great sleeper and we've been having to wake him to feed also. He gets pissed!!! I have trouble latching too. Honestly I didn't think much of it since he's a newborn and have just been dealing with it. I generally have to pin his hand(s) down and also hold his head to guide him. If you aren't doing it, the football hold works really well for us!

It never worked for me

It was something that I didn't use. We were blessed with a sleeper the first time. But I know a few friends and my sister who used it. 

mrsg80intn it's a way to feed the baby while they are still pretty much sleeping. I think there is a specific way of doing it to get them to actually eat. Here is another link:
