Greyson Donald has arrived!
Quick labor story: we were supposed to go in for an induction yesterday at 6 am. Hospital pushed it back to 9 because all of their labor rooms were full, then called back and changed to 8 because they had 3 deliveries. We sat in the waiting room for a while waiting for the rooms to get cleaned, so I didn't actually start pitocin until around 11. At that point I was 4 cm, but not effaced at all.
Contractions came and went all afternoon. Sometimes they would be 2 minutes apart and strong, other times they were further apart and much less intense. They kept upping the pitocin and eventually it turned into back labor, so I asked for an epidural.
Well, I don't think the epidural was put in correctly because my left leg was numb and it helped ease the pain of contractions for s little bit. Then I could feel everything, except my left leg. But it was too late to ask them to redo it.
Things started to to get very intense around 10 last night, but I was still only 8 cm. They upped the pitocin again and it got me to around 9 cm, but it just wasn't getting to 10. Around 12:30 I told the nurse that I just need to push and can't wait any longer. The dr came in and did a check during a contraction and said while I'm contracting I'm closer to 10, so if the urge is that bad I can start pushing. He would check back in a bit.
So the next contraction, I started pushing. After the first one my mom said "holy shit". During the second the nurse asked me to stop pushing and went and got the doctor. 3 more pushes and the head was out and then one more and he was fully out.
At 12:49 Greyson Donald was born, weighing 12 lbs 3 oz and 23 inches long! We have had some problems with blood sugar, so we had to supplement a little bit, but we are working in latching. Other than that, we are all doing well and just trying to rest.
