It is a slow day for me and I am so tired I currently resting my chin on my water bottle just to keep my head up.  Let's play.  Does anyone want to reminisce about their wedding?

The reason most of my answers are short and sweet is because we had a quick engagement and a super small wedding. My husband was deploying in April, and we wanted to get married before he went to the Middle East. The chaplain at my university officiated for us, and we only had immediate family and a few friends. That's it. We all went to dinner afterwards. It was perfect!

How long have you been married? May 4th, 2014

How long was your engagement period? He proposed on Thanksgiving of 2013. So a little over 5 months.

Did you stay on budget? Pretty much. But, I do this for a living, so I was able to create a realistic budget.

How involved was your partner in the planning? He helped choose the wedding colors. And he picked out his tux. Other than that, he didn't care what I picked.

What unexpected thing went wrong? The bridal shop lost my dress 3 weeks before the wedding. I had to go and find a totally different dress. It didn't come in to the store until 2 days before the wedding. I had my one and only fitting and then they did the alterations over night. I picked it up the day before the wedding. So, that was stressful. But, at least I got to go dress shopping twice!

What is your favorite memory of the day? My husband took me on a walk immediately following the ceremony. Just the 2 of us. It was so nice to have that alone time with him.

How involved was your partner in the planning? Very on the big things (food, venue, music, style, etc). Didn't care on the small details.

How long have you been married? Will be 4 years on the 12th. Infact 4 years ago today, DH went to the court house to get our Marriage License!

Did you stay on budget? Kind of...we went over by about 5k

How involved was your partner in the planning? Very much so, he used to do event planning for a living so he has a lot of connections. He scheduled most of the meetings with a great deal of our vendors

What unexpected thing went wrong? Nothing really, just things that we expected to go wrong (Divorced inlaws)

What is your favorite memory of the day? Probably when I danced with D's Grandfather. I did not really get to know mine very well and he took me in like I was his. I miss him very much and wish he had gotten to know our daughter

Do you have a favorite picture from the day? Our first look pictures, DH hardly ever cries and to see him crying is really just a beautiful picture.

Did you stay on budget? No budget, but my parents were paying so I tried to keep it as inexpensive as possible.

How involved was your partner in the planning?Waaaaaayyy too involved. He picked the DJ, the invitations, the cake flavors, and everything on our registry.

What unexpected thing went wrong? My FIL refused to give his speech at the rehearsal dinner (not enough of an audience) and then spent 45 minutes during the wedding speaking about DH (nothing about me). People got up and left to go to the bar.

What is your favorite memory of the day?The ceremony. It was like no one was there but DH and I.

Do you have a favorite picture from the day? I do. It's a picture our photographer captured of DH and I talking and I'm laughing at something he's saying.

That depends...I kept making room in the budget for the things I wanted. We went over our original estimation, but had enough $$ to cover everything.

How involved was your partner in the planning?
He was an awesome sport about helping with things! I had him make of list of his top 3 wants and made sure to get them! (He wanted top shelf open bar, a limo from ceremony to reception, and to play golf the morning of the wedding)

What unexpected thing went wrong?
The florist brought my girls WRONG bouquets. They were UGLY. I had a bridesmaid run to jewel and buy flowers and I had to redo everyone's flowers while getting my hair done.

What is your favorite memory of the day?
Seeing Matt for the 1st time on our wedding day:) and also our passed dance floor for "I like big butts" ha!

Do you have a favorite picture from the day? I have tons...my photographer did a kick ass job! My very face is probably my avatar one if I had to pick.

Did you stay on budget? DH and I paid for almost everything ourselves. There wasn't really a budget per say, but we looked at the prices of everything and tried to stay as reasonable as possible.

How involved was your partner in the planning? Not very. He was mostly interested in the food and the open bar.

What unexpected thing went wrong? It started pouring rain immediately after the ceremony ended so our outdoor pictures were very minimal.

What is your favorite memory of the day? Hmmm, I'm not sure. The reception was a lot of fun in general.

Do you have a favorite picture from the day? When the rain slowed, a picture of people outside the church blowing bubbles as we walked out. It hangs on a canvas in our living room.

How involved was your partner in the planning? surprisingly, pretty involved. At times, I wish he would have just said, "Whatever you want babe."

What unexpected thing went wrong? Nothing major...just a couple of little things, but everything worked out fine.

What is your favorite memory of the day? DH and I sitting at the head table and just watching the reception for a bit. We were both exhausted, but loved watching our friends and family have a good time.

My great uncle passed away that morning I personally wasnt too close to him but obviously some of my family had to leave to be there after finding out.

What is your favorite memory of the day?
Oh man. We had a hard core dance. And the speeches were awesome. And I'm not just biased, those two things are what everyone still talks about!

Did you stay on budget? - we didn't have a budget, per se, but I had an amount I wanted to stay under and I did.

How involved was your partner in the planning? - he tasted the food and cake and picked out his suits. That was about it.

What unexpected thing went wrong? - my oldest niece was supposed to get a corsage and we were one short. My mom barged out during our first look photos and I was SO pissed at her all day.

What is your favorite memory of the day? - seeing H, having so much fun with loved ones, karaoke after the wedding in the hotel bar - I did the Fresh Prince of Bel Air song & the running man!

Married April 2nd 2011. 4 month engagement. But we have known each other since 2002

Yes we stayed on budget. We both wanted a small wedding so it was just close friends and immediate family. 30 people

DH chose the location with me, he planned the music and he coordinated the officiant ( his close friend married us)

My friends boyfriend at the time was our wedding photographer but he was super bossy with me so I had to fire him. They have since broken up. But at the time it was drama. he ended up not attending the wedding because I went with a new photographer. I'm glad I did because I love all the photos.

Favorite memory? Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing DH standing there waiting for me.

Almost 5 1/2 years

How long was your engagement period?
14 months, and we had dated 3 1/2 years before that. And we were married 5 years before baby arrived! We take things slow I guess.

Did you stay on budget?
Didn't necessarily have a budget, but kept things very reasonable, at least in my opinion. We were married in my rural hometown, so despite 140 guests, church wedding, full meal and dance, we stayed under 10k.

How involved was your partner in the planning?
Fairly involved. I really don't like event planning so he helped out quite a bit.

What unexpected thing went wrong?
Nothing major. I was not happy with our minister's very rambling and long-winded message during the ceremony. And the weather put a damper on outdoor pictures.

What is your favorite memory of the day?
Standing around with DH, some of our wedding party, and my FIL, toasting to shots of apple pie. One of the groomsmen nudged FIL and toasted "to your new daughter", we drank and FIL gave me a big hug. He isn't normally very emotional so it was touching... even if he was kind of buzzed.

Do you have a favorite picture from the day?
We have some outdoor ones in the rain with an umbrella and also my brother's then-gf took tons of candids of everything from rehearsal on and she got some really good ones.

Did you stay on budget? Parents paid, so we did everything as frugally as possible. 200 people, with dinner, under 5k.
How involved was your partner in the planning? Not much. He picked out tuxes, and rings.
What unexpected thing went wrong? Nothing! although the flower girl (my 6 yo cousin) didn't smile for pics, lol.

December 3rd will be four years for us. We were engaged about 16 months and spent way less then we planned.

Nothing major went wrong, just the odd little thing.

The whole day was so incredible but two moments were my favourite: my photographer made it "snow" inside by getting all of the kids to throw snow confetti from the balcony during our first dance and instead of a bouquet toss (there was exactly one single woman at our wedding) we did an anniversary dance and of course my grandparents had been married the longest so I got to give them my bouquet.

Did you stay on budget? Yup, we got 5k from each of our parents and we did the wedding and honeymoon for 10k total.

How involved was your partner in the planning? He cared about the music and the honeymoon. I think that was about it.

What unexpected thing went wrong? I made my bouquets from dried flowers and forgot them all at my house, so everyone walked down the isle without flowers. But we didn't even miss them.

Oh, also I got a little drunk and yelled "Where my single girls at? Because I'm MARRIED NOW!" at my reception, when Beyonce's "single ladies" came on. My friends still give me crap about it, but they forgave me!

What is your favorite memory of the day? DH and I snuck out during the reception and ran down the street to a local bar. We watched the Penguins win a playoff game in overtime, chugged a beer, and ran back.

Do you have a favorite picture from the day? Too many!

Did you stay on budget? Mostly we splurged a little, but it all worked out in the end

How involved was your partner in the planning? He actually helped a lot. Didn't really care about the little details, but he was very involved in the rest. We had a great time

What unexpected thing went wrong? The day was absolutely perfect. I guess the only thing I didn't love was the gazebo decor. That was one thing my mom was in charge of, and the floral display looked like it came out of the 1980s. But it was fine.

What is your favorite memory of the day? Oh man- such a wonderful day overall. I loved our ceremony. We wrote every word of it and we're married by my uncle, so it was pretty special. I think my favorite part of the ceremony was what we did instead of a unity candle. We tied a knot with two lengths of rope that were presented to us by our families. We had the knot framed, and it hangs on the wall in our bedroom. I love that it is so visually symbolic of two becoming one, yet still remaining independent.

How long have you been married? Just over 2 years

How long was your engagement period? 9.5 months

Did you stay on budget? For the most part. Our budget from my parents was 5K, I think we ended up around 8K total.

How involved was your partner in the planning? Not very. It was probably better that way, I can be a bit of a control freak.

What unexpected thing went wrong? Our photographer lost our photos. Thank goodness for cell phones with cameras!

 He was involved in the things that were important to him like the guest list, the venue, what he was wearing, what we were eating and drinking and the over all feeling.  All the small detail and decor stuff he let do with a yeah I like it or no I don't but it wasn't a deal breaker.


What unexpected thing went wrong?
Nothing actually went wrong on the day but two days before my photographer told me she was pregnant and having some complications.  She promised she'd be there but I told her I'd have a back up just in case and to not push herself to be there.  I scrambled to find someone who could come last minute if need be.  She came though and brought an assistant so she could rest alot.  

What is your favorite memory of the day?
ahhh I have so many but my favorite was probably doing our first look and then spending that quiet time together taking pictures and talking before the madness really started.

How long: about 2.5  years

Engagement period: 1.5 years (we wanted to wait until he was done with optometry school)

Budget: we split tasks, H and I had church, limo, photographer, DJ and flowers. My parents did the rest of it

Planning: He was pretty involved in the things we had to pick! We booked his dad's church, H called around a booked the limo for the evening, H found a DJ that had a black friday discount haha, my friend took the photos and my sister and I made the bouquets with fake flowers. My parents had to invite the entire indian community in our area so they did the reception/decor/food (esp since H and I wanted less than 100 guests initially). 

Wrong: not really.  I heard later that something happened with the lighting and decorations at the reception, but since I gave my parents full rein on that, I just walked in and saw a beautiful room. It did start raining during our outside pictures, but that didn't really bother me. Oh wait, my make up girl didn't show up. So my friend and I did my own make up! 

Memory: We did a first look in the church before the ceremony.  It was perfect and fun and after we kissed and turned around, we saw some family members standing in the back spying on us. They all had such huge smiles on their faces and my cousins were even tearing up.  It was unexpected but nice to share that with them.

How involved was your partner in the planning? Very. The flower girl basket I picked out was "too small"

What unexpected thing went wrong? Our coordinator at the location changed 3 times during the 4.5 month planning period. We had to leave the reception to take pics bc a groomsman was late. We started late bc my MIL insisted in going up to my DHs SILs hotel room to get her and DHs nephew so they wouldn't miss the ceremony....and a bunch of other little things

What is your favorite memory of the day? DH & I laughed through the ceremony. Favorite memory? Hard to say as the day was mostly a blur. Loved my first dance with him, found it hilarious that he got his cell phone out at the very end bc he needed to "update his FB status," I also cornered him near the bathroom some time after the ceremony for a "crotch grab"(DH & I had not been physical with the exception of kissing and hand holding type stuff with each other)
