I am not trying to blame the victim or downplay this type of crime but I do think some women cry rape too freely. I wonder how many date rape cases come from women who had too much to drink, made poor decisions and then regretted it the next morning to the point of placing criminal blame. Obviously if its a group situation that's different but when it's one on one sometimes it just comes down to poor judgment.
I'm sure there are plenty men who wake up after such a night regretting what they've done and who they've done it with without placing blame on anyone other than themselves.

I think there are a lot of women who claim "rape," when what they mean is "regret."
And, I think if you get so drunk you black out, yes, you made a mistake, but it doesn't mean you deserved it or was to blame for it. I jaywalk. If I got hit by a car, by someone who KNEW I was there, and did it anyway (although they could have TOTALLY prevented it), no one would say it was my fault. They'd say that person was a murderer for knowingly mowing down a pedestrian.

I hit a lady with my car. She was walking down a one-way street. I was pulling out of our parking garage and looked for on-coming cars from the right and never looked left.
I didn't get a ticket because my car had the right of way bc she wasn't in a crosswalk. It was horrible. I worked with her too. I had two bottles of wine for dinner that night.
eta. the wine was after the accident. I had not consumed any booze until I was in the safety of my own home.

Nono. What you did was an accident. I'm saying if someone KNEW I was there and SPED up to run me over (like, how a guy would KNOW a girl is drunk and would knowingly rape her)? Murderer.
Also, I'm really sorry this happened do you. Can I ask if the lady was alright? Is that not appropriate? I HAVE NO IDEA.
I only know what Tom Hiddleston looks like because of TTGP. There seemed to be an obsession over there with him. However, I still don't know who he is. Like, is he an actor, singer, or what?

This. I feel like women cry rape when they get found out sometimes. I went to HS with a girl who had sex with a guy at a party, her dad found out, and she decided to say he raped her. So then he has to file a sex offender etc (her dad was the county judge) so fucked up! OWN UP TO WHAT YOU DID. Obviously this doesn't always happen. Also someone who doesn't know you might not know HOW intoxicated you are. Maybe they acted "normal" drunk and thought the person was consenting and then wake up the next morning going wtf happened RAPE! I don't know. The getting drunk and having sex is a really fine line to me. I feel like that's a really hard call to make with he said she said.

I actually have a friend who jaywalked, got hit by a car and was seriously injured. She lost her case because she wasn't in a crosswalk.
In all seriousness though, not trying to blame actual assault victims. Just saying some some people make mistakes and refuse responsibility. Sometimes to the point of ruining lives. Like you said, claiming rape instead of regret.

Murder for sure...
She was fine. She had worked at my office for over 25 years so our office took care of her and she spent 3 months off with std. I went to the hospitol with her. Nothing was broken (I was only going 5 - 10 mph) but she had some contusions and it hurt her to walk for awhile.
But my uncle around the same time did hit a guy and kill him. He was taking my cousin to school and this old man ran out in front of him. It was truly upsetting. I made the mistake of reading the comment section of the newspaper's online article and people were so angry that my uncle wasn't arrested. Even though he wasn't speeding and clearly didn't want to hit someone with his truck (especially with his child in the car).
My next door neighbor had a guy step out in front of her car. He was drunk and he died. She was pregnant at the time and they ended up putting her on hospital bedrest because of the stress and her nightmares

Guys, do you really think women "crying rape" is a common thing? Because it's really not.
Yes, there are some women who falsely accuse men. Those women are assholes and they only make it worse for those who actually are raped.
Rape is one of the most under-reported crimes in this country, and there's a reason for that. It's a horrible, violating thing, and on top of that, because so many people refuse to believe women, it's a really difficult crime to convict without solid, undeniable evidence. And if you're in a state like mine, that evidence is likely sitting in a lab somewhere because the backlog of unprocessed rape kits is ridiculously huge.

nope I definitely think it's the exception and a lot of times women get blamed/shamed for thinking they did something wrong. Men should know that it's FUCKING WRONG. I had a friend that would want to go party, which is fine, but she would get so fucked up that she didn't know which way was up. It always PISSED me off because instead of having fun I was always her babysitter. I got sick of her shit REAL quick. But her "boyfriend" at the time tried to stick his hand in her pants and his friends were egging him on and she was all but passed out. I was SO PISSED and she kept dating this fucking idiot. This is why we stopped being friends :-) That and my brother told him he was going to kick his ass but that's another story.

The original story discussed here is local to me, so I've heard about it CONSTANTLY for the last year and a half. She by no means cried rape. She actually defended the guy (who happened to be here boyfriend) until the cops showed her video and pictures of her being violated in every possible way by multiple men and water bottles. All while her boyfriend stood in the background and watched. My UO is against the media. All we've heard for the past couple of days here is how many lives were ruined in that dorm room. There is so much sympathy for these boys. Yes, their lives are ruined. But I don't see why we are supposed to feel bad for them. Visit any local new media website and there are hundreds of comments that are about praying for the football players and condemning the victim. Many from women. It's disgusting.

That is terrible. I am sorry you have to witness that.
I would feel so frustrated being put in that situation but also super guilty if I let something bad happen. What a shit show. Not to mention the weird assault in front of his friends.
Why do some men think that is funny or impressive?
Our state has a huge back log of unprocessed rape kits too (and they want to start charging the victim at the hospital for the visit). I can't understand how our government (state and federal) is totally fine with spending trillions of dollars on unnecessary shit and letting offenders stay on the street due to lack of funds.

It is disgusting. And it happens all the time. People idolize athletes, actors, etc., and forget that they are real people who are not infallible. It's like all the people who defend Bill Cosby. I mean, nobody wants Cliff Huxtable to be a sexual predator, myself included, but that's not who he is--Cliff Huxtable is a character, Bill Cosby is a very different person. We have to remember that these people are just people, and therefore, capable of wrongdoing and we should hold them accountable for their actions.

I think next week's storyline on Switched At Birth is going to be about this...I love me some ABC Family.
I hate awards season. Big fucking whoopdy do. Angelina and Jen in the same room. Gasp!
I wish people who actually did things to make a difference in the world were celebrate even a tenth that these actors and musicians are for being excellent in "their craft".
Why should I be enthralled to watch rich people get all dressed up and hob knob with other rich people?
I am all for celebrating them for their humanitarian efforts but why are the Oscars such a big friggin deal. That shit is boring.
