So I know many of us are doing BLW and I also know many of us have babies around the same age (7-8 months). We've been doing BLW since 6 months, but C doesn't really seem to "get it". He eats some stuff (I can tell by his diaper) but he mostly still throws stuff on the floor. He eats breakfast with me most days and some lunches, and dinner everyday.
His poop is still basically EBF poop with like carrot/broccoli/red pepper pieces in it. I remember a couple weeks ago Maple mentioning they were almost at ploppable poop. C is no where near that. When did your baby "get it"?

We have ploppable poop here. I would say maybe for the last 2-3 weeks. He is 8 months, 1 week. It was a gradual change. I started seeing some chunks that we had to spray about a month after we started.

I remember my daughter didn't really start eating until close to ten months. My son will be nine months on the 25 and is still not eating much. His fine motor isn't as good as hers was. He did gnaw a bk french fry on our road trip last weekend and he likes to be spoon fed soup. But that's about it. I'm trying to be better about offering every day and all sitting at the table together when I do it.
My kid is 21 months and still throws his food and mostly doesn't have Ploppable poop. Until a year old, table food is strictly for learning and fun-not nutrition

We started BLW at 6 months, but LO really had no interest until 9 months. I would say that we still had EBF poop with food bits up to around 11 to 12 months. Just keep offering and he will figure it out when he is ready.

R is a little younger, just over 7 months. He really just started eating more than a bite or 2 over the last week. But he still smooshes and throws a fair amount. He is just starting to seem like he is enjoying actually eating.
I'm pretty sure the dog eats 85% of what I put on his tray. I know he is getting some because of his diapers, but it's still more like EBF.
But like meesh said, it's really for fun. From what I hear, around 9 months is when a lot of babies really get that food is tasty and helps fill their bellies.
P does actually consume things from time to time, but that just started. She loves her some cheerios, but no, she isn't consuming nearly enough to have actual poop. Just EBF poo with an occasional piece of food in it. I just brush the food into the toilet with a wipe, and toss it in the wetbag. It's no big deal, food before 1 is just for fun.
LO is 8 months old and we have the same issue. For a while he was eating quite a bit, but he has gone back to throwing most of it on the floor. We are still working on it and not too worried about how much he eats at this point.
I think he "got it" at about 8 months. But then he started teething and that kind of put him off food for a while. At 12 months he was back to eating, but was pretty picky. He's nearly 18 months now, and still rather picky about what he'll eat.

We started BLW at 6 months, and I didn't really see much change in poop for at least a month (beyond some obvious food chunks). It's taken a really long time (and a new-found love of bananas) to get more consistent ploppable poop. And that's only now at 19 months. I think a lot of it depends on your LOs food preferences. I like to blame LO's primary food source that is fruit for the not ploppable-ness.
ETA: and I'm not sure when he "got it". I didn't worry at all about what he ate/didn't eat before 12 months. Even now, since I'm still BFing, I don't worry too much when he has picky days.
M is 7 months on Monday. He really likes food and tries to eat EVERYTHING and then gags a ton. He gets frustrated/bored after about 5-10 minutes. He throws a lot of stuff on the ground and tries to get the dog to lick his hands. He gets really excited when we put him in his highchair though and smiles a ton. He has recently started watching us eat/chew and learns a little more everyday. No where near ploppable poop here either. We spray though because once when I didn't I found a bunch of bits of food in the washer..ooops.
I'm not a lot of help since I just started BLW with daughter last week, but the BLW cookbook said don't worry about it and that food is fun when they are under a year old. I've also heard most get it around 9 months
While M "got it" on day one (at 5.5 months!), she occasionally goes through phases of "whatevs." I REALLY like the BLW approach of not worrying about it. That she can eat or not eat what she likes are we're all good. That has meant that although she likes some foods better than others, we've never had a food related meltdown. I think her current phase is a result of realizing that she's not eating the same food we are (I'm in a comfortable habit of steamed veggies plus fruit that I need to get away from). I gave her some shredded meat from our previous night's dinner and she was suddenly all about it.
Ditto to what everyone else said - J was closer to 8 months before he actually ate much. Even now at almost a year old he still just does 2 meals a day. The rest of the time he nurses.
Thanks all. I know in the BLW book it mentioned that they don't actually consume much before 9-10 months. I just thought he'd be getting a a bit more by now. Mostly the dog gets it.

DS probably started having peanut butter poop around 8-9 months, so that's when we started the dunk swish scrape routine. But he didn't really start to eat significant amounts until 12-13 months.
E (7months) is awesome at chewing and putting food in her mouth, but she mostly loves squishing and throwing. I don't really bother feeding her any set number of times a day- just when we are in the mood. Luckily my dogs do most of the clean up for me.
ellie. If you aren't LBW who are you? I assumed you were the same person
Ha nope not LBW. I mostly only posted in my bmb, and mainly lurked in CD. Proboards is easier for me to use on mobile so I figured I'd jump in seeing as how I spend like half my day laying in bed nursing anyway.
