1. 4 weeks 4 days. 2. Beta #2 came back at 459! 3. Still so nauseous, and hello heartburn! 4. Finally have my first ultrasound scheduled, 11/17! GTKY: I don't put any stock in old wives tales but my MIL swears that her and her sisters have had dreams that I'm having twin boys so she demanded that I let her do the needle on the string thing over my wrist and it said boys.

Thanks for starting this housecarder!! I hope this board grows so we can be more chatty. As a first time mom, I know nothing.
1. How far along are you? Less than 4 weeks I think. 2. Any thing new? 2nd beta is on Tuesday. First was 55, which they said was fine so I'll just listen to the professionals and not consult Dr. Google. I am just a little nervous because my chart on FF looked nothing like a typical pregnancy chart. 3. Symptom check? I'm so tired!! Could I already have symptoms?! 4. Rants/Raves? I am starting a new job on 11/16, which I of course accepted last week. I'm nervous how I'll navigate this with brand new boss.
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them?
I have never heard any old wives tales! MH really wants a boy and is very vocal about it so I'm sure we will have a girl.
My parents just booked a house in the outer banks (4 hours away) for the whole family for the week of 6/18. I'll be 38 weeks pregnant, not sure if I'm excited or not.
3. Symptom check?
Nothing physical but I've been in an awful mood since yesterday afternoon, not sure if it's pregnancy related or just normal moodiness
4. Rants/Raves?
I keep forgetting I'm pregnant, I was so hyper-aware of it last time, it's so weird when I remember it every once in awhile.
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them?
I don't believe in old wives tale but whenever I listened to the heartbeat with last pregnancy the OWT indicated boy, I haven't done any OWTs yet this pregnancy.
housecarder, I'm beta dumb, are you able to tell via betas if you're having multiples?
Betas are kinda tricky. As long as they are doubling every 48-72 hours is all they look for. My numbers are a bit higher than average, but it could just be a strong single baby, and there are pregnancies out there with low numbers that are multiples.
4. Rants/Raves? I am starting a new job on 11/16, which I of course accepted last week. I'm nervous how I'll navigate this with brand new boss.
I just started a new job 3 weeks ago, it's at a non profit that has its huge yearly fundraising event in the beginning of August. My new boss is super cool and I'm sure she'll be happy for me but it's very inconvenient timing. My plan is to ingratiate myself a little before spilling the beans. Hopefully your news will go over well!

Yes, I'm going to wait as long as possible to let them know. Luckily it's with my same company, just a different division. I already have an established relationship with my new VP and boss. The are both CFBC ( I think) so I hope they are ok with it.
Speaking of vacations, we rent a condo in Cape Cod annually in August with 14 other family members. Do people go away with a one month old?!

requiressnacks it depends on how you feel. I was out and about with both mine fairly early after the babies were born. DD was born 5 days before Thanksgiving and we did all the family Thanksgiving stuff easily.
2. Any thing new? Today was the first day that I didn't take a pregnancy test. yes, I'm super-crazy. Tomorrow I get to take one again.
3. Symptom check? possibly peeing often, tired and hungry. and pretty cranky. i screamed at DH this morning because he dared complain he was tired after getting only one night of bad sleep when I wake up for DS almost every night.
4. Rants/Raves? I packed up all of the pre-first-pregnancy clothes that I still don't fit back into in a huff. I don't want to stare at them for a year. And I've been trying to research what kind of exercise is okay for first tri and all the studies about pregnancy seem to contradict each other. These studies are so unfair! They find one correlation between something and miscarriage and all of a sudden that thing is off limits just in case. ugh.
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them? I don't really know any but I did see this on pinterest, and I'll definitely see if I can use it at my first ultrasound: thestir.cafemom.com/pregnancy/114917/Know_the_Sex_of_Your It's probably rubbish
beebe918, what a crazy coincidence! we have an outer banks trip planned for that same week. we've already paid for it, but I guess we can't go. I'm waiting to tell the trip organizer until after my first appt.
requiressnacks, traveling with an infant is easier than traveling with a toddler. infants will sleep anywhere at anytime, so it doesn't matter if you're home or not. one thing I'd worry about is waking up other family members during the middle of the night feedings. also, infants can't wear sunscreen, so you'd have to stay inside a lot or invest in tents, umbrellas, etc. but, if you have a room to yourself at the beach house then I would seriously consider going--it'll feel nice to be out in the world doing stuff!

1. How far along are you? 5 weeks 2 days
2. Any thing new? DD's 1st birthday was today and we had a party with family and friends.
3. Symptom check? Irritable. Cry at the drop of a hat. Getting lower back pain already.
4. Rants/Raves? If the invite to a party says "Noon", don't show up an hour early and get in my way when I'm still trying to get stuff ready and want to chit chat. Especially when the patience is non existent with these hormones. Pretty sure my aunt is pissed at me for maybe being a little short with her. I'll have to call and apologize tomorrow.
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them? According to another aunt's "voodoo", she uses her necklace and holds it over your wrist and based on how it spins, it can predict the sex of the baby. It was right with DD. It's saying "boy" for number 2. We shall see....
requiressnacks, for me it would depend on how expensive / annoying it would be to cancel. Due dates aren't really set in stone - I went 4 weeks early so would have been fine to travel, but you could easily go 2 weeks late and then have a 2 week old. Do other people bring kids? Is it a long drive or flight?
But yes, babies are easier than toddlers for sure so I wouldn't rule it out totally. I just wouldn't commit to something at this stage unless I could easily afford to skip it if it was just too much.
1. How far along are you? 5.4 I think 2. Any thing new? Tired, so tired. 3. Symptom check? Nothing besides total exhaustion which is upsetting me a bit. Would genuinely welcome some signs that all is well. 4. Rants/Raves? Just wishing the next couple weeks away so I can finally get a scan!
Forgot the GTKY: Well, all the predictors told me I was having a boy last time!
1. How far along are you? 5+2, I think 2. Any thing new? I have my first appointment today 3. Symptom check? a little cramping and exhausted, but otherwise I am good 4. Rants/Raves? DLS totally effed with me, so I am not sure if the exhaustion is from that or actual first tri exhaustion
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them? Nerp!
betheliz, how far are you from obx? I'm thinking I'm going to chance it.
i'm 4.5 hours away with no traffic, but traffic is always terrible. it can be as many as 8 or 9. I really want to convince myself that it's still a feasible trip, but I think that my DH, the doctor, etc. are going to rule otherwise.

Dang I have no idea about traffic, google maps says 4 hours for me, I'm coming from the north. H and I talked about it and he said he was fine with it but he's clueless. I was induced with my first because he had no intentions of leaving anytime soon so I think I'll just wait until closer to the date to decide for sure.

My first came exactly on his due date, and i had no clue that labor was coming until my water broke. I really don't think I'll go into labor early, but you never know. fx that you get to go!
1. How far along are you? I am 5 weeks 2 days? I think
2. Any thing new? Nope, just chugging along for now.
3. Symptom check? Other than the exhaustion, which I think I would feel anyway considering how crappy my son has been sleeping, I don't quite feel anything yet. Occasionally I have lightening crotch (if I get up quickly or sneeze), I'll get a twinge in my boobs and the occasional cramp or wave of nausea to remind me I am pregnant.
4. Rants/Raves? My son turns 1 in about 2.5 weeks! I can't believe it. I'll be excited to get that out of the way and then I can start telling people about the new LO. I'm waiting so all the attention is on LO that day.
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them? I don't believe in old wives tales but since I am not running to the toilet vomiting every two seconds, I'm wondering if it's a girl this time.
beebe918,I would be nervous about a 4 hour drive at 38 weeks, but it all depends on how you feel further along, like you said. Don't rule it out, but maybe have a plan in place for JIC if you guys do decide to go?

Yeah the JIC plan is what I'm concerned about. Like if I go into labor to I attempt the 4 hour drive back? do I look into hospitals down there? IDK maybe it will all be a moot point, I'll just have to figure it out closer to the date.
Luckily there's a bit of time to figure it all out. I might just research hospitals down there and see. Unless you guys to yearly or something then just plan to go next year if it's too nerve wracking
1. How far along are you? 5 weeks 1 day (I think!) 2. Any thing new? All of a sudden today my boobs are killingggggg me! 3. Symptom check? Sore boobs just started today. I've had a little cramping in my lower back and have been super tired but having trouble sleeping! 4. Rants/Raves? I think its crazy that my doctor doesn't want to see me until Nov 30th which will be 9 weeks for me. As a first time mom I'm dyingggg to see if everything is okay! I have no reason to think otherwise, but it will still be nice to confirm!
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them? I think they're definitely fun to play around with, but I don't put my solid faith in it

ginabini, I'm a FTM too and I really hope they don't make me wait 9 weeks. That seems like an eternity! I'm with an RE now so I'm hoping I get an U/S earlier. Still waiting on 2nd Betas to get my next steps...
ginabini and @ requiressnacks with my first they had me come in at 8 weeks and all they did was a urine pregnancy test, it was so disappointing. Hope you guys have more exciting first a ppointments.

Really?! That not even a blood test?! How anticlimactic....
My first appt last time was taking like 9 viles of blood and pee test. Then just a nutrition discussion with a nurse. That was at 8 weeks. First ultrasound was at 10 weeks
1. How far along are you? 4 weeks +5 days I think.
2. Any thing new? Made my first appt. It's November 18th, which is also my birthday!
3. Symptom check? I puked last night, but it was due to super sniffer and poopy diaper pail being changed. Nose is out of control, and I want to eat all the dairy... and sugar.
4. Rants/Raves? My friend is getting married June 25th, 7 hours away... I really want to go... but idk if my insurance will cover my delivery if I'm out of state. I would have no problem delivering there... but we can't afford to do it without our plan...
GTKY: Do you believe in old wives tales? Any sex predictions based off them?
Last time... the OVT were half and half. I had a boy. So far I've had dream that was pretty vivid, and we had a boy. So while I'm not basing my guess off that... that's all I got. Lol

With my other two I had a similar experience, around 6-8 weeks I came in for the history questionnaire and a urine sample with some blood work orders and then had the ultrasound around 8-10 weeks. But that was with an OB. With an RE I think they want to make sure everything is viable before sending you off to the OB. I'll have two ultrasounds with my RE (6 and 8 weeks) before he will let me "graduate" back to my OB.
