I'm supposed to work tomorrow. I have a nasty cold that is of course aggravating my asthma. H is off tomorrow, so I could laze around and kill germs with booze.
I'm basically front desk at a barn, it's cold as fuck (thus no one wants to ride) so basically I stand around and try to organise the office. That is chilly. Also most of the people that board there/work there smoke, so I'm always around freaking cig smoke.
Am I being a wuss? My boss most likely won't care, but I NEVER call out. And I'm a chicken and feel obligated to come in and do nothing.

I mean, if you have sick time, stay home?
I am sorry if this is the dumbest question in the world-- but are there animals in the barn? Isn't it bad for them to be exposed to second hand smoke? (and for you as well, obviously?)
Signed, Girl from Brooklyn that has never seen a barn in real life.

I don't have sick time, I just don't work.
And yeah, it's not fabulous by any stretch. At least the barns are open air, and the hay is stored away from the barn, but you try telling a bunch of 40+ year old lifetime chain smokers to not smoke at the barn.
I DGAF if people smoke, but it sucks to be forced to be around it.
