I'm a nurse and here are my thoughts (this is not medical advice)1) it could be any number of things. Worrying will waste your energy and won't help you to think clearly. Easier said than done.
2) primary brain tumors, are incredibly rare. Like, they make up 1% of all cancers and only cause 2% of cancer deaths. They are most prevalent in the very young and very old. It's good you are seeing a neuro for this, but try to keep some perspective.
3) MS is often times of the remitting-relapsing variety. With many people, They have flares and "recovery" periods. Many of these people end up living normally or needing a cane when older. Also, muscle weakness and tingling/numbness is very often an initial symptom.
4) slipped discs are so fucking common. Don't rule that out.
5) most brain tumors are diagnosed accidentally or during a routine eye exam. Those that present with symptoms other than headaches, tend to be more external and have better treatment options and remission rates.
6) you are already doing the right things. You said he hasn't been having symptoms for too long which is good. It's never good to let things go too long.
And finally, keep calm. It's ok to research potential issues in order to have a better understanding and facilitate a educated discussion with the doctor, but keep in mind that with Dr Google, you always have cancer or AIDS no matter what symptoms you have.
I'll be thinking of you guys. Just keep in mind that the odds are in your favor that this is something totally fine and you have every reason to be hopeful. If that changes, cross that bridge and educate yourself fully. You are your own best advocate.
