TTMA Post-Period Spotting (XP from 3T)

Okay, so I know you're regular until you're not. I know spotting is totally normal.

BUT

I'm on CD12 now. Started spotting about a day before my period showed up. Had a 4-day period, totally normal. But I'm STILL SPOTTING! Enough to require a liner so I don't mess up all my undies. It's not period-like, it's not a flow. I definitely know the difference.

{TMI Alert}So this is dark reddish brown, thick, and mostly appears on the TP when I go to the bathroom, but a little typically ends up on my liner throughout the day.

Should I be worried? I started my BCP to get my cycles regulated and synced for our donor egg IVF in February, really thought the BCP would help end the spotting, but nope. Sure hasn't. Thoughts? TIA!

Maybe the spotting is your body reacting to starting the BCP? That's the first thing that came to mind.

I thought so, too. It's never done that before, even on this exact medication, but you're regular until you're not, right?

Hmm...I guess it could still be the BCP even though you've been on it before without the spotting, although I'm not as confident in my suggestion now. Maybe it's just a different reaction to starting them up this time - hopefully it goes away quickly.

And yup, regular 'til you're not. So annoying!!

My money is on the birth control pills making you wonky. Even if you've been on it before - you took time off, things shift, etc.

You're probably right. And my money had been on that until I realized it's been 12 days of this new cycle. Just wanted to get some input.

I'm also just on edge about anything messing up our DE IVF cycle, especially since most everything is already booked and paid for!

What type of BCPs do they have you on? I went 12 years on BCPs with no mid-cycle spotting. The BCP my RE had me on prior to IVF and FET cycles made me spot like crazy.

January 28th! Transfer is February 9th, exactly 90 days from today (not that I'm counting... or that I have a countdown on my desk calendar at work or in an app on my phone...)

I'm with the others - BCPs make your body do craaaazy shit sometimes.

Hi! I had the same issue with excessive spotting on BCP. I had spotting with quite a few BCPs. I went through a couple different kinds before I finally found one that stopped it.

I'd also blame the bcp.

When I was on the three month pills years ago I would literally spot the entire third month. It was the worst.
