Tis the season when colds, sinus infections, and the flu abounds. Oh my!

Do you take decongestants and other cold medicine while TTC in your FW?

Do you try to stay away from them?

If you don't take any medicines while in your FW what do you do to get some relief?

**I've read that nasal decongestants are bad for TTC, but I find myself in a position now where I'm taking them so it made me wonder**

I'm currently taking nasal decongestants, the kind that replaced Sudafed.

This cycle I'm taking all the meds because I want relief. I didn't think of any problems that might cause while in FW.

I took a steam shower with DD's vapor bath soap this afternoon. That seemed to help.

I try to avoid them, but more so before the TWW than after, because it dries up mucus.

See... that is what I read. I'm like already counting myself out this cycle. I'll consider it a practice run. Maybe the green tea will cancel out the decongestant...

I just got over a really bad sinus infection/ear infection and it happened during my TWW. My doctor prescribed the Z-pack, a strong cough medicine, and amoxicillin but I felt so bad I had no choice. Until I get two lines I still have to take care of myself.

I think I agree with ****** and pismoduo. I'm interested in seeing what everyone says.

I'm team take what I need until its pink. I had the flu last year when I ovulated and took Tamiflu.

The only meds I really care about is Advil while in the TWW.

I will also add that I use to get BAD sinus infections like every other month until I went through allergy shots.

And I'm pro-netti pot.

During the TWW I take whatever meds I need. Minus diflucan for YI.

I feel like the pro-Neti's could start a fan club.  We need to convert everyone.

Sudafed dries up all my CM which would make it hard to conceive. But if you feel awful, then getting better and being able to function is probably more important than maximizing your chances this month. I would take it during the TWW without worrying.

My philosophy tends to be, I would never recommend decongestants as birth control. They might dry up CM a bit, but they certainly won't make TTC impossible. I say gimme all the relief and if it has an effect on my CM, on to the next cycle.

I don't take decongestants or cold medicine ever, so during TTC or FW would not apply to me.

But if I did take them, I think I would follow "until it's pink" rule

I thought I read this somewhere about antihistamines as well. Does anyone know if that is true?

I take whatever I need to to feel better. Same philosophy as drink until pink. This is usually red sudephed, neti pot and honey and cinnamon.

I take anything that will make me feel better. I suffered through illnesses when pregnant/breastfeeding so I will enjoy all the drugs while I can. I have a lot of CM though so that's not a concern for me.
