Fairly Random questions: Snowshoeing with baby

By chance is there anyone here who has snowshoed with a baby before?   We are spending four days in a cabin in the high country next week and want to go snowshoeing.  We both used to be extremely competent skiers (double black & back country level) back in the day and do easy hikes somewhat regularly, but neither of us have snowshoed.  We are really looking forward to trying it out since it's so much less expensive than skiing and it seems like a great family activity.

1.  How hard is it to learn?  It looks like there is a structured nordic center about 20 miles from where we are staying with actual marked trails, rentals, food, etc.  so we aren't going out in to the deep woods alone. Is it realistic to think that we can do this for the first time on easy, short trails while wearing a baby? It's just walking on snow with giant paddles right? 

2.  When you go do you just wear the baby in the front or back based on size, just like you do when hiking?

I've never snowshoed with a baby before but we teach our children in gym class. It's super easy to learn (we teach grade ones) but can be fairly tiring. I don't think it would be hard to wear a baby and I think you could wear them as usual (as long as they were appropriately bundled of course). The movement tends to be slow and lumbering so I don't think they'd get too bounced around or anything.

As I said I've never snowshoed with a baby but I hope this helps.

You should be fine. Snowshoeing is easy to get the hang of, and wearing a baby shouldn't make any difference for you (except for the extra weight) and your LO will be totally fine as long as he is warm enough!
