I didn't know what a hemangioma was and Googled images. Poor babies! Are they painful? Where was your daughters located? I'm glad the meds are working.

No, it doesn't hurt her. It doesn't bother her at all....mostly just other people. They are benign vascular tumors that will usually, for the most part, go away by the age of 5. Sometimes, if they are big or in a crappy spot, they can ulcerate or need laser treatment, but we shouldn't deal with either. I'm thankful that it is on her hand (you may be able to see it in my profile pic), as many times the growths occur on the face and head. They don't know what causes them. She'll just essentially end up with a birth mark.

I'm glad they are not painful, I guess it's just the bright red color that would make me think...OUCH! I guess I have seen kids with them before but I thought they were just birth marks.
DS had a fairly bright birthmark on his upper thigh when he was born, but it has faded fast and looks like a little tan heart now.
My LO has three, but they are all small. One is on her forehead, which freaked me out at first, but it's the smallest one (maybe the size of a grain of rice) so I am just hoping they go away on their own. I think they are getting smaller. @lemonpielover what is the treatment? Is it a topical or oral medication?
