Sibling Rivalry: the good, the bad and the ugly!

I have a twin sister and we fought like cats and dogs ALL the time. I remember one time we were fighting about something and screaming so loudly my mom could hear us outside when she came home.

She sat us down in a chair and tied us (loosely) with a jumprope until we were able to have a civil conversation about what was going on.

We still tease her to this day that we should have called Child Protective Services on her.

I adore my brother. He's one of my favorite people in the world. But as kids we fought a lot. He was less verbal and more physical so he'd punch me in the face and break my glasses, or throw me across the room. I'd do things like put soap on his toothbrush instead of toothpaste.

I had a step sister one year younger than me. Our parents married when we were 11 & 12 and we didn't get along at. all. the first year. We were going somewhere in the car and I was making a concerted effort to just let it roll off my back and take the high road for once. She, on the other hand, was insistent on poking me, leaning over to make noises in my ear, annoy me, etc. I just kept ignoring her. My dad was watching it in the rear view mirror and after a while of her acting up, he turned around and yelled at her to knock it off adding "if she hauled off and hit you right now I wouldn't do a god damn thing about it because they way you are behaving you would deserve it." So, when he turned back around, I hit her.

FTR Dad did not mean it when he said he would do nothing.

My dad and her mom divorced when we were 21 & 22 but we are still keep up with each other. She's the only sister I had and that means more than that first year. She was just elected as mayor of her town where she lives in Holland.

My siblings are 17, 15, and 14 years older than me, so I avoided this! I always wanted a sibling closer in age. I got nieces instead!

My sister is about 2 years younger than me and we went at it all. the. time. She was physical and I would just yell. I have so many diary entries venting my frustrations. I would always try to run to the bathroom because it was the only room with a lock. She put a hole in one bathroom door by trying to throw a hairbrush at me. She put a hole in the other bathroom door by kicking it. At one point my mom removed the locks from the bathroom door and then I would have to try to barricade myself. Nothing as epic as Kristykristyleelee, though!

Totally put soap on my brothers toothbrush too. Then the next night mine was soapy... however did he know it was me?! Haha!

Otherwise I do remember a lot of arguing and bickering, but even by high school that was better. I think it was partly because we worked with my dad during the summer and it was like we had more comradery with each other since neither of us get along super with dad.

My kids are like @jemomma's. DS1 will disagree with DD just to piss her off.

My brothers hanged one of my Barbies once, by tying yarn around her neck and dropping her from the top of the stairwell. Her head popped right off.

When little brother was camping in our back woods with the troop (and scoutmaster Dad) older brother and his buddy unpegged their tents. This resulted in a wild chase through the woods and 30 stitches in older brother's friend's forehead (barbed wire fence).

Once, in college, I had poured myself a bath, and was laying on my bed, on the phone with my boyfriend. Brother (older) took my phone, scooped me up (still dressed) and dumped me in the tub. He also occasionally tossed bowls of ice water over the shower curtain.

We were far more close and conniving though, when it came to being naughty towards our parents.

Karma is a bitch, it turns out, lol.

I have a younger brother(2yrs younger) he has/had anger issues. Love him to death but he tortured me. Lol. He would hit or say mean things to me constantly. One day I got him good: we were leaving one night to go to church j think and I quickly wrote a note on his bed that told him "I broke in to your room but you weren't here. I'll be back later!" Yup, I got in SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!

My brother is 4 years older than me, and we used to fight all the time. I can't really remember any specifics of our fights, but I am sure they were all started for pretty dumb reasons.

I'm a middle child and my older sister is exactly 1 year 1 month and 11 days older than me. (She's 1-11 and I'm 2-22). We always got along decently well aside from the fact that she was always stealing my bf. She's the prettier one so naturally all the boys wanted her. I was just the stair step they walked on to get to her.

My younger sister is 2 1/2 years younger than me and we fought like none other. It usually always started off as playing until one or both would get pissed. I honestly can't remember anything she's ever done to me but I can remember everything I did to her. I shoved her in the dryer and turned it on (door open but my finger held the safety button), I've tied a sheet around her waist and made her "walk the plank" off of the roof of our two story house, and I've put her inside a round laundry basket and taped the lid shut then rolled her down a flight of stairs. The words "don't tell mom and dad" were used way more often than I can remember

My brother is 2 1/2 years older then me. Let me see... for starters he locked me in the bathroom and cut my hair. My mom had to climb in through the bathroom window to get in. He emptied a stuffed animal of mine and filled it with whipped cream. When I was a bit older he put red pepper flakes in my cereal and didn't tell me until years later. I thought I was poisoned at the time.

Of course I was bad too. I liked to go in his room and trash his toys and rip up his drawings.

I'm the youngest of three. Brother is 14 years older than me so there was just a lot of 'respect' confusion because he wanted to act like a father to me when I got older. But our dad was always in the picture. So, weird. He acted like a teenager until I turned 20. Since then we've gotten along. He was just an asshole.

Sister is 4 1/2 years older than me. She and I battled a lot. She liked to 'teach' me things. She taught me to read so that was helpful. She also taught me how to escape from being tied up by tying to me a tree with a jump rope multiple times. Haven't had to use those skills yet. She also taught me to read music by barricading me in her bedroom, also helpful since I'm a music teacher. She washed my mouth out with bar soap a couple times.
I have an overactive imagination so she would scare the dickens out of me to keep me away. Examples-Ursula lived behind the recliner in the basement so I'd leave her alone while she played; rats lived under the couch in the basement so I'd leave her alone while she played; we ate slugs for dinner.

To be fair, I was almost the same size as her by the time I was 6. The first time I ever got grounded was for punching her in the stomach and winding her when I was in first grade. She stopped rough housing with me after that
