I love Asher and have always wanted to name a boy that, H's grandfather was name ash so it works out really well but now I'm worried about it being trendy
We have a boy name picked out, but are having a hard time with girl names.
Boy names we love but can't use: August nn Gus- Gus doesn't sound great with our last name Sebastian- we have a cat with this name Theodore- too Roosevelty with DD's name.
Girl names I have been liking lately: Beatrice Astrid Josephine Fiona Aoife (Guilty pleasure name)
I don't love extra ys in names. I'm also not a big fan of place names.
I'm going to be a pain in the ass and quote everyone bc I'm mobile and tagging is hard.
I like Gus but my son is named jack and my sister pointed out to me that jack and gus Gus are the names of the nice from Cinderella. Also love Josephine, it's on my girl list.
I thought the mice were Jaques (Jaq) and Gus? So yeah the names are close, but not my first association and I love Disney.
We are set on a boy's name: Jackson Wade Robert to honour DHs grandpa, my dad and maternal grandfather. For a girl we have Marie and Diane for middles to honour our mothers but can't decide on a first (DH likes Emily I really like Evelyn)
If this baby is a girl she will most likely be Emily.
Lol why? ETA Oh wait, I get it now. Your baby. Le duh. Haha
DH has always LOVED the name Tanner for a boy (for no reason in particular). So if little bean is a boy I'm pretty sure he will be Tanner Anthony. (Anthony is my dad's middle name)
For girls... I have no clue. I was very close to DH's grandmother when I was little (we've known each other our whole lives)... her name was Jane. So I think we would want to incorporate that somehow but unsure whether it would be a first name or middle name. My mom's and my middle name are both Rose, so that might be in there too!
We aren't going to talk baby names for serious until we know the gender. We had a really hard time agreeing with ds.
We tend to agree more on girl names. I really like the name Oliver....Ollie, but dh had a dog with that name growing up. He vetoed it.
This is me any MH we had a very hard time agreeing with DD. Girls names we cannot agree on at all, he wants the name Margaret Maggie as a nn after the dog he had growing up. This maybe unpopular but the naming a child after a pet doesn't work for me.
We may have to go back to the drawing board for a boys name too. So it will be a while till we decide.

We have had our boy name picked out for years: Silas Keenan.
DS's first name is really unique (not in the "let's add a Y way") and is not popular at all so it is hard to pick just any name for another kid.
Girl names are super hard because H has a no nouns rule so most of the names I like are out and he has no suggestions. Recent names that have been turned down by H that I really like: Lysandra, Adeline, and Sloane
Who is thinking about them? The thought of picking a name is stressing me out. DH and I don't agree on any names usually either.
What style do you like? I like older names. More uncommon ones.
Care to share your lists? Top 5, 10? The only name I have in my head is Eleanor for a girl but DH already said he doesn't like it.
Stories behind any of the names?
Just for fun: Names/trends you can't stand? Awful names you've heard lately? I feel like a lot of people wouldn't like my DS's name because it's a common name that's spelled differently, not too crazy out there but yeah. It was the only name/spelling DH and I agreed on. So I feel like I can't judge other peoples name choices, haha.
DH thinks I'm crazy but both of us and our daughter have 4-letter names so I'm pretty stuck on the idea of this baby having one as well. So I've been scanning the name websites for 4 letter names that I like.
I've love for it to start with a 'B' in memory of my grandfather but haven't found anything I love yet. We had DD's name picked out years and years ago but used our 2nd choice for a middle name so starting from scratch this time around. I can't think about it too seriously until all the scans work out but it's fun to start looking.
My first choice for a boy originally was Benjamin (my grandfather's name), but our last name ends with 'man' (like Hartman but not) so it sounds ridiculous now as the names would rhyme.
Wow so many of you are on the ball with names! With DS, we went to the hospital with 2 boy and 2 girl names which we didn't even start thinking about until late in my pregnancy. We were kind of hoping for a girl bc we didn't like our boy names much at that point. Well we had a boy, and I think I said "uh I guess he's XYZ." We love his name now, but it was super uneventful so I'm sure it will be similar this time around. And the more we put it off, the less time H and I can disagree on names!

What is a no nouns rule?
No names that are places or things. So, no names like Autumn, June, Winter, Jasmine, Rosemary, April, etc as the first name. He and I also don't like names that are popular so nothing can be in the top 100 of popular names. H is also very picky in general so it is hard to agree on any names.
We had a girls name picked out for loss #2 and that was Arianna Rose but I cant bring myself to use that for another baby.

Who is thinking about them? All the time. Our families were so annoying about names last time though, so we're not announcing until the baby is born. My point is I should not worry about a name until later. However, I'm a terrible secret keeper and I give into their peer pressure.
What style do you like? I'm not really sure. Older?

Girl: Quinn Nora Isla Claire Violet Evie
Most of these were vetoed by H already.
Boy: Graham Charlie Connor
Boy names are hard
Stories behind any of the names? No stories.
Just for fun: Names/trends you can't stand? Awful names you've heard lately? I don't really have any that I can think of that I really don't like.

Isn't Rose a noun name? I completely get not wanting to reuse the name though.

The rule is only for first names because that is what they will actually be called by.
Who is thinking about them? I am, but I am not discussing with DH yet. He feels that names should honor people (which I can get behind), but some of his family have names that I don't like and I wouldn't use because it is too old fashion sounding (he wanted to use Gertrude in DDs name because that was his one grandmothers name. I had to veto it.)
What style do you like? I like classic names. They don't have to be the most common, but I don't like them so old fashioned that they sound like a name only an elderly person would have. See note about Gertrude above. As far as spelling, I hate the extra y thing, but I am okay with alternate spellings of a name as long as it is an actual established alternate spelling (Sara or Sarah, Allison or Allyson, Elizabeth or Elisabeth).
Care to share your lists? Top 5, 10? These are just my my pics... Girls: Sara Ann (Sara is paternal Grandmother's name, Ann is the name MIL goes by). I am trying to get into Susanna (my mom foes by Suzie and MIL goes by Ann, so combo). Elinor after my favorite Jane Austen character, but I don't love Austn's choice of spelling, so I might go with Eleanor. Boys: I feel compelled to use David as a middle name because both of our fathers are named David. DH does not feel this way and wants to go with Clifford and Silvio after his grandfathers and I will veto that. He can have one but not both. I also like Edward (my grandfathers name). I really wish we could just not do a family name here at all and start considering any option.
The boys, now that they know, keep suggesting names to us lol they like Andrew, a and for a girl Cecilia although they agree with MH that Emily is good. Lol
