Hi all! I'm alfibet, pretty active poster on oct14 since I was a few months pregnant. I had no idea this board existed until I started wandering around on the tapatalk app. I'm so excited to have found it. I have a step son who turned 5 last week and a dd who is 4 months next week. We have ss 50% of the time through court, but it's more like 75%. He is a unicorn (is that a universally used term from tb?) when he's with us, but a bit of a brat with his bm and other people, but I'll get into all that as discussions come up. Unless anyone has any questions then that's about it! I'm excited to have some support for being a step parent.

Welcome!! What's a unicorn in the step parenting world? I also have a wonderful step son that will be turning 5 in March! We don't have a court order yet (which is a real headache) but we get to see him every weekend for the most part and it's always my favorite part of the week.
I look forward to talking about our children together!
Hmmm, Id say a unicorn in step parenting is just an all around good kid, he has great manners, respect for me as his step mom, and is very well behaved. We never have to "punish" him since he never really misbehaves.
It would be hard without a court order, have you guys tried to go to court? My DH went to court with bm when ss was 11 mo. She wanted him to have every other weekend, DH wanted 50%. Court said bm was nuts and every other weekend isn't common anymore and granted 50%. If every weekend works best for you guys though, then no shame in that! It's great that your ss is so important to you
