Hi All!
Seeing as I just posted in the GTKY thread, I should probably post an intro thread as well!
I used to lurk and occasionally post on the bump in preemies and in my BMB and want to try and be more active here.
My DS is my first and was born at 31w1d due to a placental abruption in Dec 2013. We are both lucky to be here. He was not born breathing but they were able to resuscitate him. I needed several blood transfusions from all the blood I lost from the abruption. Now over a year later and we are both doing much better. He is slightly delyaed. 14 mo actual (12 adjusted) and he is not walking yet. He does pull up and walk along the furniture. He actually still doesn't crawl normal either. He does a funny belly crawl (he moves pretty quickly that way!) We think he has a speech delay as well but it seems kind of early to call it that. He says dada all the time but not much else consistently.
We've had our battles along the way (reflux, re-hosptialization for RSV at 13 months) I like these boards because although I don't wish the preemie experience on anyone, it helps to know you are not alone and eventually you get through the challenges you face. Also the Pregnant after a Preemie thread has helped some of my fears of trying for a second. Now that DS is 14 months we will probably be trying in the next few months.
