I probably should have done side-lying and stayed in bed, but I'm not sure how he'd react to my alarm clock. I'd like to try and get a shower in the mornings while he sleeps.
My fitbit that I wear on my wrist has an alarm feature. It just vibrates. Never used it before I had DS, but now it's awesome for if we're snoozing together.
I've been thinking about getting a Fitbit. Is it really worth it?

Tl;dr it's fun but not life changing. Perhaps more effective for goal oriented or competitive people.
Eh. It didn't change my life. I love it, but I don't know what you mean by "worth it." I've had one for over a year now. I started with the Flex, which is the simplest wristband. It tracked steps, active minutes, distance traveled, and sleep. It estimates calories burned. It was a good way to realize what my typical day looked like, and a motivation to do the things we know we should anyway, like take the stairs not the elevator, or park at the back of the lot so it's a further walk to the store. I love the sleep tracking, but just cause it's cool. I don't know what one would change about her life because of this info. Also I'm a good sleeper already I used the app to track food & water intake for a bit, but you could do the same with any free food/calorie tracking app. It has nothing to do with the device. Now I have the Charge HR. I love that it is also a watch! It tracks sleep, steps, active minutes, stairs climbed, distance traveled, and heart rate, as well as estimating calories burned. But I have to remove it for showers & swimming, which I didn't with the flex. The heart rate function makes it much more accurate for tracking active minutes. For instance I do power yoga, and fitbit doesn't give you very many steps at all for that, but the HR can see how much my heart rate jumps & realizes I'm being active. The HR also automatically detects when I'm sleeping so I don't have to tell it to go to sleep & wake up like I did with the Flex.
Now my mom has a different story. She's goal oriented & very competitive. When she found out you can have fitbit friends & there's a leaderboard that compares your 7 day step total, she went and bought one that day. 10,000 steps a day is the default goal, and she never misses this goal. Ever. When she & her cousin became fitbit friends, Mom upped her daily steps to 20k just to be competitive with her cousin who runs marathons & was in training for one!
I'm glad I have it. It helps me realize when I get in a rut of inactivity. If you get one, don't be surprised if you find yourself making laps around your house before bedtime because you're almost at 10k steps!! (Also step goal is changeable if you want.)

lilyelayne thanks for the info. Since I've become a SAHM I'm not getting in nearly as many steps as I should be. I feel like if I had something showing me how many or how few I'm getting, it may motivate me to move more.
When I put DS in the crib last night he woke up. I hadn't had dinner yet, so I turned on the white nose machine to distract him for a little bit while I ate. When I went back to his room a little while later he was fast asleep. Now why can't he do that for naps?
Although he did get up twice overnight. He only had 8 oz at daycare, and nothing in the afternoon. I told them not to wake him up to feed, but he's taking these really long naps in the swing. Then again, they said when they put him in the crib to nap he wakes right up.

This concept of babies just falling asleep in their cribs is so foreign to me. DS will very occasionally fall asleep like that in his swing, but thats about it. Usually I have to put him asleep in that too for naps. On a flat or non moving surface...never.

DS had his first night in his crib last night. Only 1 extra wake up and I am wondering if that's cause got him too soon because I was more alert because I was worried I wouldn't hear him. I always put him down asleep though, have to work on the awake but sleepy bedtime plan. Hopefully he continues to do well with his crib.
Last night DS spent hours sucking on his fingers and kicking around instead of sleeping, he ended up napping like there was no tomorrow all day long. I was nap trapped practically the entire day, I feel like he's going thru something. At any rate, I decided his finger sucking and smacking noises are too loud for me to sleep, tonight he's sleeping in his crib in the nursery. So far so good - he fell asleep by himself after nursing just now.
Do you guys keep your LOs on a schedule? Like naps are always at the same time daily? I cancelled my plans today due to his sleep, my friend made a comment like she was shocked that i don't know when nap time is for DS. I generally feed him then let him play til he yawns (about 20mins), or if he's sleepy while nursing, I'd just let him sleep. When he naps depends hugely on how spaced out his feedings are. She's making me feel like I'm doing it all wrong...

I don't keep LO on a schedule, but there is a bit of a routine that has formed. It's all led by her though, and thus the times are slightly different day to day and the whole routine shifts as she grows.
Right now she usually gets tired about 1.5 hours after waking from a nap, so I start paying more attention for signs of sleepiness around then. (If I get her down at first sign, she goes down really easy. If I wait there are a lot of tears). She tends to sleep for an hour, but sometimes only 30 minutes, or rarely, longer. Today she surprised me with a 2.5 hour nap!
The times these will happen depend of course on when she wakes up for the day, which can vary by a couple hours.
So, I too have trouble planning things. On the upside, I have a well rested baby, and that really helps my days.
I think our babies are too young to be on a schedule, unless it is a household necessity. Following a routine (similar order of events through the day) with looser baby-led times seems more appropriate.
no real schedule. She has a big morning nap and a big afternoon nap but it all kind of depends how her night goes. I'm pretty lucky she can sleep anywhere so I haven't canceled any plans yet.
Another loose routine here. Based on his morning wake up time, I pretty much know when he's going to want to eat - he's fairly consistent about that. But naps are all over the place. He generally gets sleepy about an hour after he wakes up, but sometimes it's less. His nap length varies from ~20min - ~1.5 hr. Sometimes the short naps are all he needs & he wakes up happy and ready to play & won't go back to sleep even if I try.

Thanks for your replies, ladies. Sounds like I'm not crazy to not have a schedule. I'm less able to predict when he'll feed or nap next, I think maybe my milk supply does vary a lot throughout the day, sometimes he goes 3 hours between feedings, sometimes 4.5 hours. As for naps, he sometimes does 3 hours, sometimes 30minutes catnaps. if I hold his hands for a few minutes, he'd go back down again. DS is known as Sleepy to some of my friends, he is just always sleeping.
Yesterday was the first time I had to cancel my plans for his naps. He's became very clingy lately and cries extremely hard when we're in the car. He's never cried as hard anywhere else, it's like a special cry he reserves for car rides! I find his crying very stressful and am not able to keep driving with him screaming and shaking in the back. I'm now too afraid to go anywhere if I know he's going to need something during the ride.
We are team loose schedule also but he'll sleep in the car or the ergo or I can still rock him sometimes and he'll just sleep on me. So I try to schedule things around when I think he will want to sleep and eat but it doesn't work out all the time. Day care has him on a loose schedule too. Sometimes he is sleepy and takes a nap right away, sometimes not for an hour or two.

I think she might be teething. Two days in a row and just inconsolable. We got teethers from the fridge and she went to town in them. She's 14 wks so I know it can happen this early. I don't know what go feel for in her mouth to see if it is.

PikoPiko, my LO was the same way in the car. Lasted for about 2 weeks and now most car rides he's ok again. Also now allowing me out of his sight again. For more than 5 minutes.
Poor baby has yet another cold. Don't know if I should worry about the frequency. He had one 3 weeks ago and this one started up a couple days ago.
Ours does too. Last cold was a month or so ago the week before he started daycare. (After visiting though which is when he cough it) there have been a few times I thought he was getting one but this time it's full on. They say (the internets) that babies get 10 or so colds their first year so if he didn't get one his first few months that's pretty much once a month.

That's good to know. He's so mad at me at me about the snot sucker. But he needs it so much.
