Help me find a boy's cake

I just realized DS' party is next weekend. February sounded so far away....He is turning three.

DD was allergic to all dairy so I baked everything from scratch for her. So then I did the same for DD. So now I feel like I have to for DS (and skids and DH and MIL and my mom and the list goes on....). I don't really like baking and am not artistic.

DS loves super heros and frankly most things boy.

Does anyone have a really easy cake they have made or an idea they have pinned or saved or the desire to google?

I really want something I can do with a star tip, no fondant, only a couple of colors of icing.  or something easier than even that.

Bonus points for low complexity - last year I did white frosting, a graham cracker road and dump truck shaped candles on it + cupcakes with hotwheels on top and more dump truck candles. So I am totally game to buying things on Amazon or from Michaels instead of hand crafting fondant whatevers.

This is not my forte at all, but my SIL just recently had a party for my nephew who turned three. She got him one of those edible cake graphics off Etsy. It was a Disney Cars theme and all she had to do was buy a sheet cake, wet the edible decal thing and stick it on. Voila it looked professional and pretty cool for a great price and 0 work.

I don't know if I added the image right but this is what I did for DS last year.

It was all done with sugar paper from Wilton edible sugar sheets (bought at Michael's)and a star tip. I cut out the images with an x-acto knife and covered with stars. It would be easy if you picked his favorite super hero to do.

I used to do cakes on the side, and I've found that cupcakes are actually my go-to now. Would you be willing to do cupcakes instead? Something like this, but you could go to a party store and get superhero rings, or cupcake toppers?

It's possible my standards are way too low and this isn't fancy enough, but we've done dirt cakes for various occasions before. You can get as creative as you'd like with different kinds of containers (rather than a flower pot) and gummy worms, dump trucks, etc. on top. I've also seen "sand cakes" done with the vanilla sandwich cookies instead. Either way, super easy & popular with kids, although maybe not what you're looking for(?).

i was going to recommend exactly this for easy. you could make the cake yourself, if that's really important to you, and then apply the decal.

a lot of times i think the fancy cakes are more for the adults than for the kids. i mean, is your three year old really going to critique the cake if it isn't professional and fondant and all that? if he likes super heroes, what about something easy, like piping the logo for superman or batman on a normal round cake or cake in a 13x9 pan? plopping figurines and cool candles on top is always an easy route, too.

I second the cupcake idea. I would do his favorite flavor of cake, add some superhero cupcake toppers, and call it done. (A quick google search showed me lots of topper options.) I've done similar things for parties and baby showers, and it's generally a hit.

I was also going to suggest the edible printout for a cake. Or if you want to do cupcakes, amazon has a bunch of edible designs for cupcakes as well.

Also, if he has a favorite, you could just to their logo on the cake. Batman, Superman and Spiderman would all be very easy to pipe onto a cake. Then get figurines to put on or around the cake. If you do your own piping, I suggest a cake over cupcakes. If you're anything like me, you'll get sick of making the same logos over and over for each cupcake!

I have the attention span of a gnat for cake decorating. Whenever I do 3D cakes they have to be up against a wall because I lose interest totally by the back.

I'm thinking cupcakes with toppers (cannot decide between picks, rings and edible!), plus a round with polka dots on the sides with a bunting on top and some figures....you guys are so motivating me.
jlaok I have nowhere near enough time to do that cake - that is awesome!!!!! I am slow, in addition to lacking an attention span.

I found bags on Amazon that are perfect for library books - these will be the favors, and we will use them to collect piñata stuff (bracelets, tattoos, stickers, crackers). I had to order two sets - I invited 5 kids, but with sibs, that's a lot of kids!! (DS' friends have older siblings who are friends with DD, so DS is calling it "our party"....)

I did half the cupcakes like that and then the other half with Spider-Man rings.
I also stole her goodie bag design and put DH on charge of those.
