And wanted to punch her... See there's this thing about measles that is causes more than just "a rash" it can lead to ear infections which can lead to hearing loss. The eye issues can lead to blindness and oh let's not forget Encephalitis, you know swelling of the brain... oh but no it's just a rash.

I'd respond saying that the author's privilege is showing. News flash! Even in the ole U.S. Of A., health care has huge inequities. It might be a rash for an upper-middle class suburban kid with health insurance (assuming they don't go blind or deaf, of course), but to their classmate who is maybe living at or below the poverty line...well, fill in the blank.

Her comment about how many people die from the measles in the US being about zero made me ragey. Well yeah, it's basically been dormant until recently, so it wasn't killing anyone. You dumbass anti-vaxxers have brought it back though, so now we've got to start worrying. And even if the number was super low - say 1 or 2 kids? - it wouldn't matter that it's rare if it's YOUR kid who dies.

My thoughts exactly. Heinous fucking bitch. Yeah, you have the benefits of modern medicine, an adequate diet, and sanitation that help keep you safe from diseases that were practically eradicated in this country and all of that is fine but you want to live in The Dark Ages when it comes to vaccines.

I hate people so much sometimes. Asshole. What a mother in some of these Third Wirld Countries wouldn't give and the obstacles they overcome to get their child to the doctor so they can have these vaccines?

OMG. Please, nobody give this fuckwad any clicks. Mello, please C&P her article here. She has a LONG history of making baseless claims (she has claimed to be a doctor and a lawyer; she is neither) and then when it's pointed out, she threatened to sue all the members of the Politics and Current Events board over it. She also claimed to cure infertility with yams, and has claimed that she is a "mama of four" because at some point she's adopting two kids from somewhere in Africa. Oh, and in the span of about a week once it was pointed out that she is neither doctor nor lawyer and to make such claims is illegal in the state of IL, she suddenly scrubbed every mention of those claims from her interviews and websites.

There is no reasoning with her, because she thinks all of the scientific/medical research is bunk.
