MacGyver moments or other embarrassing stories

I get to work and head to the bathroom only to find a HUGE whole in my pants along my inner thigh seam. I check the mirror and it's completely visible when I'm walking. I started freaking out and cursing myself for not having a sewing kit at work. I carefully make my way back to my desk and check my drawers for anything that I can use. A stapler would be too weird to carry to the bathroom and way too loud. I have paper clips, binder clips, tape... Then I notice some paper tags with wire ties. I took the wire off the tag and carefully made my way back to the bathroom. The wire works perfectly and I'm able to sew the hole shut. Then to protect my thigh from being stabbed by the ends, I wrapped whatever was left in toilet paper as a cushion. 

So that was my morning and it's only 8 o'clock. 

Anyone else want to share a story?

What a way to start the day! Glad you got it fixed though!

Last week when we were putting our tree up we realized there were some large branches on the bottom that meant we couldn't fit the tree in our tree stand. We don't have a saw and we couldn't figure out the best way to get the branches off, so DH got out a hammer and hammered them off- it take forever! Needless to say when my parents asked for ideas for DH for Christmas I suggested a saw.

Wow. You are quite the MacGyver!

I was in the kitchen talking to H last night when I happened to glace out the window and see my dog, on the wrong side of our fence. No idea how she got out. So I ran out the back door, jumped over the fence (in black dress pants and flats from work), and start chasing her. A young guy was running and saw her, so he was helping me. She crossed a small creek, and I promptly fell right into it, right in front of the guy.

I was SO embarrassed.

My life is full of embarrassing stories. It's practically my job, lol. Here's a good one from work recently.

They recently renovated one of the office suites for the Pathology department. One of the offices is for the residents. All of the offices are along one side of the suite, with open desks for the admins on the opposite side of suite. The front walls of the entire office side of the suite are made of glass. They plan on frosting them, but haven't done so yet. Unfortunately, this means that I can be hard to tell when the doors, which are also glass, are open or shut.

One afternoon, as I was walking toward my office, I waved at the tech supervisor in the office next to mine. Another tech was borrowing a computer in the resident office. My brain saw her and automatically assumed the door was open. Next thing I know, I walked straight into the door while waving. The door actually jiggled too. Both techs about died laughing. As did I once the shock wore off.

The best part? I didn't even hurt anything because my built in "airbags", aka my extra large boobs, reach the door before the rest of me, including my feet.

goldenlove3,love the solution you came up with!

Toddler keeps pulling the kitchen towels off their spot on the oven handrail, so in desperation I used shower curtain rings to attach the towel part to the handrail. Not pretty, but functional.

Also, my head light on my helmet keeps flopping around, so I sacrificed my hairtie for a tighter fit.

You're so crafty goldenlove3! Lol that's awesome. I had a hole in my pants at work a few weeks ago too. Although, I was unsuccessful at patching it up. I just tied a fleece around my waist because the hole was right along the side seam of the butt pocket. My co-worker gave me the heads up. It was very embarrassing.

We have a very small yard and just have never needed it so never thought to buy one...until that day! I grew up on 50 acres and a farm though so it's pretty odd to me too

hahaha goldenlove3, that sucks, but nicely done! My old boss got his pocket caught on the side of his desk and nearly ripped his pants off- he totally stapled it!

I can't really think of anything I've done...although I cannot stand wallets. I just hate them, I think they are bulky and stupid and I don't have the patience to put the credit card back in it's freakin little slot. So ever since I was 14 years old I've kept my cards in a stack with a hairband around them. License on one side, CC on the other side, all stuff that doesn't get used often like health insurance cards and store cards in between. It's so fast & easy to slide the card in and out of the top spot. (I never have more than $40 cash so it stays in the zipper pocket of my purse)

Yeah, I eventually caught her. I had to carry all 40 pounds of her back to the house because I forgot to grab a leash, too.
