I remembered mine. Santa pictures. I do not get the appeal, especially when the little one is too little to even know whats going on, or even more so when they obviously don't want to do it. I maaaybe might get it when the kid is an age where they are straight up asking to go meet Santa, but even still, I just can't see waiting in line at the mall so a random stranger strange old man can hold my kid.
Agreed. We do them only if they are free. The only time we paid was when DS was about 1 and he was very curious about Santa. After that we just took the kids to the free Santa at Bass Pro or any other Holiday fest that may be going on around town. I would never be heartbroken if we didn't get one though.
We only did it because MIL bought the dress and wanted to take her. Otherwise we would be all about the free ones as well!
Free or not, I just think Stranger Santa is creepy and not cute and DNW him holding my kid!
I hate the whole concept of the Elf on the Shelf. The elf is also really creepy.
I think the whole surveillance theme of Elf on the Shelf is creepy. We opted to do a Kindness Elf thing this year with cute (and cheap) elf ornaments I found instead. We give gifts out of love, not as a reward for behavior, and it's a season for giving, not for being a tattle tale. ETA: I do get a kick out of some of the naughty things my friends do with their Elf on the Shelf though.

Bah Humbug!

+1 to the free Santa only. We did the Bass Pro and it was well organized and the Santa had a real beard. We were in and out in an hour and a half. That included a walk over to Starbucks until it was our time frame.
I really enjoy working the week between Christmas and new years. I never take it off, and i get so much done in the office its insane.
We have this week off as a special holiday break. Paid, we don't need to use vacation time. I work for Higher Ed - so the whole University just shuts down. Anyways....this week off is everything. Even if I ever left this job, which I don't ever plan on doing, I would most definitely take that week off. It just isn't meant for working!
My office is always dead!! Most people take off and all of my counterparts around the world are closed!
I love Santa pics, but don't get the kids screaming ones. I don't think that's cute.
My UO...I don't get New Years. I guess since I'm a teacher my new year has always been September so I don't feel like the year changes on December 31st...even though I know it does. It just doesn't feel like a new year.
