Chicken Pox Vaccine

Hey ladies. 

So, I just posted not long ago about DD having a red lump/knot in her leg from the Pneu-C vaccine. 

Well, that went away after a couple days, which was great.

This morning, I change her diaper and notice a red lump (different looking than the other one) on the side that she got the Chicken Pox vaccine. I can't win, lol. 

It basically is about half an inch, red, kind of warm to the touch and you can tell there's maybe 1-2 bumps inside of one, if that makes sense. 

So, I took her to the walk-in and I don't particularly like the walk-in doc that was there today but anyways, she said that it is normal a week or two after the chicken pox vaccine to get a chicken pox type rash around the injection site or sometimes even a few over the whole body. 

Has anyone ever heard of this or went through this? It's gotten a tad bit bigger since we got home from the walk in. She doesn't have a fever and is acting normal. It doesn't bother her when I touch it. The doc said to just leave it and it will go away and it's normal/common. I just worry about her, alot. I was happy when the first bump went away and now we have this.

We did not have that happen for the chickenpox vaccine. The dr did say not to worry if he got a bump. I hope her bump goes away quickly and doesn't cause you too much worry.

salemkitty - thanks love, the thing that bothered me was that it showed up 7 days after the vaccine. I have tried reading about it online and found different pediatric sites saying with MMR & Chicken Pox vaccine (both live vaccines) can create a rash that resembles what the shot is for and it can show up anywhere from 5-26 days after the shot or something.

This didn't happen to DD, but the nurse that gave her the shot did warn us that she could develop a chicken pox like rash any time in the next few weeks.

We did not have that happen for the chicken pox vaccine. I'd keep an eye on it and if it gets worse or bothers your LO I'd take her in to a doctor your more comfortable with. Hang in there, I know its tough when you just get relief from one thing and then another one pops up.

We have not gotten out Chicken Pox shot yet. We are going to discuss it with the doctor during our next visit.
I hope she gets better soon!!

This morning it's a bit bigger and looks more like an actual chicken pox rash. It's just at the injection site, no bigger than an inch and looks a bit blistery. Doesn't seem to bother her. I hope it goes away soon
