I know, those looked awesome, but I would want to put the right markers directly on the ceramic to make them last longer.  And rubbing alcohol will definitely do it quickly.  Maybe simplify the design?

I'd wipe them clean. I think it would be hard to go over the lines, and a clean surface would make the new paint stick better.

Snowman mug after baked in oven at 450 for 45 minutes then handwashed. Made with regular Sharpie Marker.

Those cookies tend to be a little drier. I like a couple a year but they are not my favorite for the dryness factor. Give me the sugar cookies all day.

I love that type of cookie in general -- it's one of my favorite things to get at my local bakery. I actually bought one there after baking them to see where I went wrong. I think they used macadamia or hazelnut and I used walnuts, plus I burned the bottoms a bit. I'm gonna try again soon.

Thanks guys! The interview went really well. It was short and informal, and they're gonna see what they can do for salary. Now I have to wait for the details of both offers and try to decide.

It's going to be so good to be employed again, even though it's just 2 days per week. We can finally start our house fund!

Ugh. I'm going to start blocking IMs after a certain point in the day at work. I've got like 5 people sending me messages bitching about how someone else on my team didn't get something done and why can't I do it for them. Somehow it is entirely my fault that they always wait until the last second to come to our team for approvals, and sometimes the person who does the approvals is not in on that day.

Yes, we should have a backup for this. No, I don't know who it is. Yes, I've tried calling several people. No, I can't just approve it.

Like, I'm on the other side of the goddamn country, I have no fucking idea why this particular process failed.

Part of me is thinking about putting them off until next year. I hate the idea of re-doing 16 mugs!

Excuse me if this was already covered, but did you use sharpie brand? I've heard that the Bic brand permanent markers are better for the colours when doing baked mugs.

That was me. They are definitely a drier/crumbly cookie. More like a shortbread. I love them, they are my favorite Christmas cookie!

I use walnuts. I roast them before incorporating them into the batter. I'll bet macadamia nuts would be great though.

I think it improves the flavor. I think technically that oils are being released from the nut. Kinda the difference between butter and brown butter or sugar and caramelized sugar. It's a deeper, richer flavor.

So, if I were you, I would definitely not go down the Sharpie route at all. You have to hand wash the mugs if you use that. People don't like hand washing if they don't have to.
