I'm glad everyone's parties went well. I'm already lovetiting away on IG.
@tessessy I'm sorry DH has to leave early for his trip. Sounds like he'll be doing some late night laundry
DS was a ham as usual at my cousins' Bday party tonight. He threw up all over my one cousin because he was bouncing him around. He was a pretty good sport about it and his friends made fun of him all night for getting his skinny jeans dirty. DS was up way past his bedtime and FX he sleeps in a bit. Even 5 am would be amazing.
tessymessy MH has to travel for work a few times a year and there used to be drama every time. He's gotten better about it lately but it used to be a family event getting him packed to go.
I always say, "you pack alone when you act like a dumb dumb". Ok, I don't always say it but I did tonight.

Summary of my day since my rant
-I did not wind up murdering DH, although it would have been justified had I done it. -we managed to salvage the afternoon & hit up the zoo -I gave A his first home haircut (his second so far). I'm fridiculously proud of how good it looks. It's on IG.
My phone is dying & I'm going to drink wine & space out tonight. Woot.
I have a pretty firm policy of not being political on Facebook and not engaging in stupid arguments on Facebook. Yet tonight, I have 1) posted a political article on my page (in my defense, it has to do with library funding! Important!) and 2) engaged an anti-vaxxer stranger ON MIL'S PAGE, no less. (I am happy to that while I sometimes find MIL seriously eyeroll-worthy, she is firmly Camp Vaccinate.) Who am I?

sjelwood was it you with propane woes yesterday? Dh grew up with propane. How big is your tank? His parents is 1000 gallons. It lasts them most of the year. He suggests checking your insulation in the house.
Ugg...so after much discussion. We bought two cosco scenera seats today. I'm ok with it, but I feel haunted by the idea that a more expensive seat might be safer, like we had agreed on Britax for a bit and then changed our minds. But in this seat we should be able to keep LO rear facing until this time next year. Atleast I got DH to agree to rear facing.
Can anybody reassure me about our seat choice? I feel like a bad mom choosing a cheaper seat when maybe we could have budgeted differently and afforded a nicer one.
innanni all car seats must pass federal inspections/regulations. As long as you install and buckle correctly the cosco will work just fine. Please please please rear face though. It is so important b/c their spines and necks aren't fully developed and being rear facing helps protect those areas--even a little accident can cause whiplash.

Expense doesn't equal quality. I own Cosco seats. They're great. Reviews are great.
Thanks. I'm just tired of the roller coaster. And I also feel like a whiny bitch because I keep complaining to you guys about it. I just want it to stop so I can be normal and fun again.

We have a Cosco scenera for DD in DH's car. It is a fine seat. It is safe. Any car seat you buy will be safe if it is installed and used correctly. And DD was rear facing in it until almost 4. Now she prefers riding in that seat over the Britax in my car because she faces forwards in Daddy's car, but is still rear facing in mine.
Have y'all seen the article about Roald Dahl's daughter, Olivia, that died from complications from measles? It happened in the 60s in Britain, before the vaccine. He wrote a plea to people to vaccinate. So heartbreaking. I love his kid and adult stories, and had no idea.
My son will definitely be rear facing as long as possible. My husband (following the advice of MIL) didn't see the need for rear facing at first. I had been working on him with articles, but a recent tragedy in our extended family has sharply changed their outlook. It's made us hyper aware of car seat safety which is why we considered seats we really don't have the money for. Thank you again.
Hugs avswolf - I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I know you were seeing a therapist a while ago, can you do a checkin? .
I saw her Monday after I found out about my job. She wasn't really able to do much because I let myself get pretty deep, but I have another appointment to see her this Monday. I'm just tired of it. It's making me mad now.
I'm glad everyone's party was a success! I'm stopping by to love tit away bc I'm so late to the randoms. I've been going through pics of LO reminiscing this past year and crying my eyeballs out.

I have this policy too, but some of the breastfeeding is best comments on that video making the rounds are making me ragey. You know the one with the kid in the stroller going down hill, and all the moms about to throw down?
it is fine to breastfeed to your kid, it is not fine to denigrate moms that don't, and consider formula companies as sellers of poison.
Clearly I have some feels that I might need to go let out of Facebook. As I typed all this and then realized it doesn't have much to do with your comment.
i went through the thread wondering why i couldn't love tit. then realized i wasn't logged in. oops!
lots of hugs avswolf. I'm so sorry you are going through this. please don't feel like you are just complaining to us…we are here for you and want to talk to you and help you the best we can! I hope your therapist has some helpful advice for you on monday to help get out of the spiral. i haven't been through what you are going through, so not sure if this would help, but is there something you could do when you start to go down that would help turn it around? photography? a nice nature walk with your camera?
Anyone have the evenflo Platinum Symphony DLX? We ended up getting 2 today @bru and as soon as we were headed home I started panicking about the decision. (It takes me an hour to choose a birthday card). I know that if it's on the market it's "safe" but did we fall prey to the pretty packaging and advertising or did we make a good decision?
We were also looking at the nextfit Zip, but my nearly 4yr old niece sat in in and said she felt "squeezed".
Aghhhh. It is midnight and LO is STILL awake. I don't know what else to try. He will start to fall asleep and then jerk awake crying. I wish I knew what is wrong.
