I tried catching up on yesterday's threads, but it's not happening. Too long. Got halfway through and gave up.
DH and I are looking into buying a house this year, so we are trying our damnedest to save our money. Yesterday I did meal planning and then hit the grocery store. $100.29 for two weeks of meals for three adults and two kids. I am impressed with myself! We usually spend $40 a trip and hit the store three times a week, so that is a significant savings.
Teach me your ways wise one! Does meal planning really make that big of a difference?
Guise! I am flying to Georgia on Thursday for 2 job interviews, to look at 3 houses, and introduce LO to her aunt/uncle/cousin. I'm excited and nervous for the whirlwind of a weekend.

Yes! It realy does, I've saved so much money by meal planning.
applegrape I just started meal planning about a month ago and I love it. We got a weekly menu board from SIL for Christmas so now I plan all of our meals a week ahead of time. It really does help to save money at the grocery store and reminds me to thaw anything that I've kept frozen. Plus DH thinks it's fun to check the menu each night and see what's for dinner. Completely eliminates the "what should we eat tonight" conversation we used to have every day.
I'm at work for the first time in two weeks and I just want to go home. It's freezing here, the heat was set at 62 and it's like 1 degree out! I turned it up but it's not kicking on. I need extra coffee to warm me up!

In my house it does. If we just go to the store without knowing exactly what we need, we end up buying lots of crap on top of the stuff we were getting. I planned a lot of meals with shredded or cubed meat, so I can get 4 meals out of $8 of chicken, whereas if we don't have a plan for the chicken in our fridge, everyone gets a whole breast an we grill it with a starch and a veg. It comes out to $8 a person that way.
I also convinced DH to get ground turkey instead of ground beef, it's $2 less a pound.
angnjon I buy really thick chicken breasts from the meat department case instead of prepackaged, it's cheaper per pound and then I cut them in half and double the amount and freeze them.

My friend with twins is texting me, asking if EBF gets easier. I don't know what to say. It got easier for me but I didn't have twins cluster feeding all night long.
thestralpixie115 it's funny that your H is a germaphobe. Kids are germ factories.
Yep this is going to get interesting... I've broken him in over the past 6 years with dogs:) I was relieved to see he has that crucial instinct in place where the puke isn't nearly as gross if you love the puppy, know what I mean?

Man that would be rough. I would tell her that. Honesty is always the best :-)

What's the price difference? I never thought to look in the case!
staryb DH did his first MOTN last night too. Did you find it went well? I got up at 6:15a to find him and DD chilling in the living room watching tv. I asked what time they got up. He said 3. ?!?! He did say she slept on him for a while after eating. It's hard because he's got such bad eyesight he needs light on to do anything but I keep all the lights off except a nightlight. So I bet that didn't help keep her sleepy. I was hoping to make this more regular but if he's not going to go back to sleep after getting up with her then that's not going to work during the week bc he has to work full time too. I guess I'm just disappointed that she didn't take a bottle and go back to sleep like she does when I get up, BF her and then put her back down.
It went better than I expected actually. I honestly didn't think he'd be able to get her back down without me because she almost always needs to nurse to fall asleep. Every time he's gotten up with her before he's lasted about 15 minutes before bringing her to me to BF and going back to sleep. He did come in and ask if he should give her a bottle though...umm yeah, don't wake me up to ask if you should feed your hungry baby lol just do it! I can't really complain though, he really did well otherwise. It took about 2 hours but he got her to sleep and back in her crib and she was still sleeping when I left this morning.

windwithfingers - I was thinking about this today... For me I think the answer is yes and no.. You get used to it, but then just when you think you have it all figured out...Bam! Your taking a needle to your nipple. Lol but seriously this shit is hard work even with one baby, I cant imagine having twins and doing this. Mad props to the ladies doing this every day

For you ladies talking about meal planning I found a fantastic resource in www.5dollardinners.com we do the Costco freezer meals and even manage reasonably well with our small freezer. The recipes taste good for being pretty simple!
ssfc2014 it's the worst when fights unravel like that. I hope you guys get to process a little today and revisit again later. And sorry for the lack of sleep!

I did meal planning before the bfp. I would cook everything on Sunday and eat all week. I stopped during first tri because sometimes what I would cook on Sunday made me sick when we went to eat it. I really need to get back in that habit.
We started making a list on Sundays and it helps, but fell off the wagon when I was pregnant and need to really get back to it. One thing I do is always buy/cook extra and take the leftovers for lunch the next day. Toddler wastes a lot of food, though. Meal planning does help us not forget things.

Yay tapatalk let me post again!! It had numbers counting down instead of "send" before.
Toddler has been waking nightly, not quite screaming but unhappy/scared, and needs mommy to get her back to sleep (daddy's attempt thurs night led to much louder screaming). Of course baby often wakes at the same time or is nursing... So have any toddler moms been through this and any advice? (I might post on the toddler board too). It seems like bad dreams. She won't tell us what is wrong in the motn but sometimes will agree to the bad dream suggestion in the morning. I'm wondering if a twilight turtle or similar would help. She has a dim nightlight but that's it. No lovey or blankie; some nights she wants stuffed toys in her bed but not always.

It does get easier, I promise! It's takes a lot of patience & stamina but it can be done! The first six weeks are hard, I'm not gonna lie, because of the newness, sore nips & hormones! It definitely gets better after that! At times she's going to feel so alone because it's all on her shoulders but that is where her SO, friends & family need to step in! They can clean, cook, change ALL THE DIAPERS, rock the babies to sleep etc. if she has a good support system & determination she will succeed!

Also a key item that saved my sanity & still does is tandem feed as much as possible! I'm not sure I'd still be doing at this point otherwise!
