Apparently it's going to snow all week. Guess we won't have to worry about not having a white Christmas. We already have moee snow than we got all past year. I seriously don't want to have to leave my house and go to work this week
Yo Flair Underwood , I just wrapped the present your PSA found for MH on Zulily! I got the red mixer. It's so snazzy. We've wanted one for years, I'm pumped. Too bad he doesn't get it for cookies this year!
WHOOOO! I hope you get to enjoy it and use it as much as he does!

The weather is so strange this year. We haven't gotten any snow yet and are behind our usual. We are usually in the top three snowiest cities in the US. After the past two winters I'm not complaining. I hope you guys get a break soon.
I've had a lovely weekend overall. Saw Star Wars last night, then went briefly to one of MH's friend's holiday party. Got a call this morning from a nice nurse at my OB's office telling me that my Verifi results came in and were normal! (We opted not to find out the sex yet.) This was the news I was waiting for before starting to tell more people than our immediate family, so I then called my grandma and she's over the moon Also went to brunch with a friend and was able to pass on my opks etc.
Friday was our family Christmas Eve and Saturday Christmas Day. On Friday we had homemade pizza which DD helped make and she opened her Christmas Eve box which included jammies, a movie, popcorn, a new cup, a book and a basket ball bath toy. We watched Charlie Brown Christmas and the next morning she came out to see a little tikes basketball hoop from Santa and got to open presents. We didn't get her too much more because she's getting so much from family. One of her favorites was the elefun game I got for $3 at a consignment sale. We made Oreo snowball cookies yesterday and today we went to church and we are making brownie balls. Overall it has been a fun weekend! It's been so much fun watching how excited she is. She understands what's going on more now and I know next year she will understand even more!
SAY NO! You can! It's seriously an option, I know it didn't feel like it, but it is! They don't have the right to invite themselves over.
You: We have plans, but we look forward to seeing you (date). ILs: You: I'm afraid we just can't. We are so looking forward to blah though! ILs: ((( You: (repeat as necessary)
Better yet-- DH's family, DH's responsibility. Have him do it.
I wish it was that easy but they went through DH not me and told him and of course he never says no to his parents. Plus my parents are visiting this weekend and I didn't want to cause a huge fight in front of them.
Oof, that sucks. DH and I have a hard and fast rule that we don't accept or issue invites that haven't been run by the other person in advance. It prevents awkward situation where you have to argue in front of people or rescind invites. If it were me, I would ask DH to call back and say he didn't realize you had plans already and it isn't going to work out. But only you can decide if that is worth it.
I'm jealous of you ladies getting sips of champagne! Clearly I need to hang around people who are drinking more so I can snag some.
birdhut that sounds so wonderful! I can't recall if you've said - but are you travelling for Christmas/really busy? I'm a little jealous Santa already came!
I just made the most disgusting recipe for dinner. It was cheese stuff chicken scallopini with fresh tomato sauce and herbed orzo. I took two bites and threw it out. Definitely not a recipe I'll ever make again.
My dog is being a bitch. She peed on my new $2000 couch, so I hurt my throat yelling & screaming at her which made me even more mad.
Now I'm consoling myself with decaf tea and online shopping.
PSA: Old navy is having a sale that ends today (not so much on pants but great for shirts & dresses.) I had some rewards $ plus the sales made 6 shirts & 1 dress $4.59 total. Yeah!

Agh GOmamab15! Please tell me the couch isn't ruined! I'm also assuming you have a good enzyme remover/cleaner. Gah, I'd be so mad too. Sorry about your throat too, ice cream may help soothe it (after the tea of course).
That's a great steal at old navy! I wish their maternity stuff was on their Canadian online website - I get shafted with shipping for their maternity section, so I'm stuck with what I can find in stores,...which seems to be nothing nice lately

Same here! I'm trying not to complain because it's been so nice but also scares me that it's so warm. Today I went and walked my dog and it was 49 degrees and sunny out. Literally 5 min into our walk it started hailing out of nowhere. It was almost spooky. The sky never turned grey or anything. I'm originally from California so I'm used to having no snow on Christmas but the poor neighbor kids are so bummed.

Kevinmac I made a recipe with orzo recently and it was awful. I'm convinced I hate orzo. Blech.
We're currently "sleep training " our three year old. Bedtime has gotten so out of control that my friend, a licensed child psychologist, recommended it but this fucking sucks.
Also I'm totally on shutterfly making my MIL her annual Christmas present calendar. It's not like it's the last day for rush shipping or anything...
Thanks cattuccino I think we got to it in time, you can't see it or smell it so I think it'll be fine but she is no longer allowed on it which will be hard for her cuz she's a lap dog. Sorry Old Navy Canada site is so stingy, hopefully they'll restock the stores in the new year.
I actually had some sips of drinks when I was pregnant with DS (like champagne and sips of beer etc.), but I'm way too paranoid this time around. I drank caffeine my entire pregnancy with DS, and even though I know the doctor says you can have up to 200 mg, I still waited until the 2nd trimester (well, mostly because I felt too sick), but also because of my anxiety this time around. No judgement here, though!
This week is going to be crazzzzzzzzyyy!!! I can't believe christmas is Friday. We just got back in town and got unpacked. We have guests staying with us Tuesday and Wednesday night. Thursday is Christmas with my H's family. Christmas day, we're driving an hour away to see my grandparents. On Saturday, we're driving 2 hours away to see my H's grandparents/extended family. Sunday, we fly to Philadelphia and spend a week traveling with my parents/siblings (we'll end up driving to Virginia). Yikes. I keep telling myself the memories will all be worth the stress doing all of this with a toddler, but it'll only get harder form here with 2 kids, so now's the time. I'm getting nervous thinking about the two weeks ahead, though!

Thanks for your sympathy ladies! Sadly try as I might I haven't been able to get out of it. DH said we have to appease them since they are driving so far (4 hours). I told DH that we will do our family thing when it's just the 3 of us and they can't take that away from me.

Sorry just getting to this! We traveled for thanksgiving and will be at my in-laws for Christmas they are about an hour or so away so not too bad. Just been crazy trying to get cookies done and things ready. I can only do one kind a day with DD. it's been a process but it's getting done Santa will be coming early every year for us. Hopefully it's not too confusing for the kids but we are either in MI or an hour away on Christmas every year. When we do MI we have our little family Christmas then the in-laws the weekend before we leave and then my family. Those years are crazy!! I actually enjoy the years we don't go see my family just because it's less stress.
It's been a crazy night. Don't know if you guys have seen the national news, but there were 7 killed in north Texas storms. We were driving right in the middle of it and were literally ahead of the tornado by 5 minutes. I'm still shaken up. We took this picture when we were pulled over.... We fly out in the morning for PA! Feeling consisted baby movement and it's the best thing ever.

We are retraining DS once we get home. I think we are down to having to lock him in his room to make him stay. We have tried everything. He's always been a horrible sleeper so I'm praying it works. What method are you using as we are always looking for new ideas?

sandandsea literally holding the door closed. I hate it, but we just let him know we're there and when he freaked out he went in and calmed him down. It sucked for a day but then was fine. And he hasn't been coming in our bed MOTN anymore either, which is a plus. It was just a "method" I thought was so cruel and swore I'd never do, but no one was sleeping. I didn't know what else to do.

This is where we are too. I hate it but we are right there with you!

This was terrifying! I'm glad your safe. DH's family is in Dallas and my SIL and her 14 month-old spent the whole evening huddled in a closet. Fortunately they stayed safe too.
