Has anyone tried the whole handprint ornament thing? We waited until he was asleep and carefully painted his little hand and held it open. Just about got it in place before he woke up and was all "eff this shit!" Needless to say, we're all covered in paint. Now I really need a beer. And a bath.
Edit because I'm an English teacher and typos piss me off.
Are you talking about putting their painted handprint on a round ornament?
I did salt dough handprint ornaments this year with both kiddos.
H once asked me if I found it strange that Rick from TWD is in Love Actually. I was like, "no, but it does bother me that Rick is secretly British" And then H failed to laugh at my funny.

Painted hand on round ornament.
I haven't done those. When DS was 4.5-5 months his 1st Christmas we did the Misletoes plates for grandparents. I did a footprint craft several weeks ago with both kiddos but haven't tried do any handprint crafts with LO where paint is involved yet.

I think we're going to give up on the handprints for this year and do feet instead. I know he can handle those because his teachers at daycare did mistletoes last week.

You could also try to salt fought ornaments? That way there's no paint on his hands? And if it doesn't come out right you can reform the dough and try again? It doest take a ridiculous amount if time to "cook" though.
I always have intentions of doing crafts with handprints and footprints. I never once actually have done it though.
I'm pretty sure we're OAD, so I'm trying not to miss anything. I'm already ridiculously weepy about how much he's changed over the past 6 months. I cried while looking at my year in review thing on fb. Pathetic.

Jesus it takes forever to read 153 posts. Just got home from Christmas party and I'm watching Pretty Woman. Wearing a baby and chasing after a 3 year old who kept losing his "girlfriend" in a sea of adults seriously cut into my drinking time. But I did get a mimosa in during breakfast with Santa this morning. My kid wasn't the one to bust his head on a big rock too so that was a win. Love Actually is alright. I like the Holiday better for that type of movie.
Hello and good evening! +1 to never having seen Love Actually. I did the embossed handprint ornament and loved it - no glitter to fall off!
Oooh! What's that?
It's basically the same idea as the painted handprint. You use a glass ornament, wet the baby's hand with clear embossing ink, and then pour the embossing powder over it. (Any color you want) Clean up any stray spots with a qtip, seal with a heating tool and you're done! It wipes clean with a baby wipe so you can try it again as much as you need to, but once you seal it then it's permanent. I've never tried embossing before but I was impressed with how easy it was.

I was playing college basketball in 2003. Nowhere major like Duke or anything like that. Just a small Division III school. But it was still a lot of fun and a great experience.
