Family/In-Laws Rants (with bonus advice request)

My rant is related to my advice request.
So, my dumbass brother still(!) lives at home. And he's a terrible chain smoker. Last I heard, he smokes 2 packs a day in the house. You can't be in there for even 5 minutes without reeking of it when you leave. Originally, my parents were coming up here for Christmas, but now we're going down to them. MH family is in the same area, and his dad doesn't travel.

We'll be staying at my aunt's vacation house, so that's good. But I know my parents are going to want to hold LO and all that. I've already told them they need to wash their clothes at least twice right before they visit, and shower, but is that enough? Also, I'm sure my mom (who I just told that too) is a. going to forget or b. not think it's important. And based on our conversation, it will be both a and b, actually. She has this way of changing the conversation if I say anything about some sort of responsibility that she has/will have. And my dad will either not understand or straight forget, probably. It's like dealing with children.

Tl;dr, my parents stink and are too oblivious to think about their granddaughter's health. What's the best way (aside from turning them away, which I will do) to get them to remember to wash the smoke of them and their stuff?

My parents don't smoke, but they let my (36 yr old!!) brother do anything he wants, including, but not limited to: filling their yard with junk cars, not paying rent, keeping two large dogs in his (small) room, etc. He's an asshole and it's completely ridiculous.

I did tell my mom that they have to both shower right before they come over. We're definitely not going to their house, no way in hell would I take my LO in there.

@saveourship, for sure. On the plus side, at least I know that my mom will respond to an ultimatum. It won't be the first time I've had to take the hard line.

It's just so dumb that we even have to deal with these smoke issues in such extreme ways. I hate that it's not enough to just say "do this/don't do this for the health of X."

I was just talking to hubs the other day about how our kids will never be asked "smoking or non?" at a restaurant. We're antiques.

Oh yeah! I remember the first time I was told I didn't need to specify that any more. I had just moved back to Florida after three years and went out to eat with my family. What a difference! I still remember when the burger king down the block had little ashtrays and a smoking "section" (as if the whole place didn't fill up with it!)
