I was diagnosed with a tiny umbilical hernia last year. The surgeon said it was a wait and see situation because it was tiny and never hurt. Fast forward to after my BFP and it is getting uncomfortable occasionally. I am going to tell my OB and give the general surgeon a call, but Google tells me surgery now is a bad idea unless necessary. Anyone have any comforting words?
If it's small - I don't see a reason why waiting it out until baby is here would be a problem (but I'm not a medical professional either). Definitely keep us posted on what your OB & surgeon recommends/suggests.
I have had one since my pregnancy with A. It is still there but I can't say it bothers me. I'm not sure about surgery since that is not my area of expertise. I will say that I had surgery at 12 weeks with my first to remove an ovarian cyst and she's perfectly fine. Perhaps your doctor can recommend a specialist? I had to go to a doctor who specialized in my particular surgery during pregnancy.
Did you end up touching base with your OB & surgeon about the hernia gratefulgirl ? Just checking in
Thanks. Sorry this was such a P&R - I didn't realize how much of my attention my toddlers were going to take on our road trip. I'm going to check in with my OB on Wednesday at my intake, and based on what she said check with the surgeon. I'm not experiencing concerning symptoms, just found it a little scary that the hernia was noticeable when it never had been before.
And thanks too to jamjoyful for your input. That was helpful!
